[Congenital penile curvature: Guidelines from the Andrology and Sexual Medicine Committee of the French Association of Urology (CAMS-AFU)].

INTRODUCTION: Guidelines regarding congenital penile curvature (CPC) are lacking, and this pathology has not been the subject of French recommendations to date. The Andrology and Sexual Medicine Committee (CAMS) of the French Association of Urology (AFU) propose a series of clinical practice recommendations (CPR) by answering five clinical questions concerning the diagnosis and treatment of this pathology. MATERIALS AND METHODS: After a bibliographic research between 2000 and 2021, followed by a critical reading according to the CRP method. These recommendations were written to answer five qu

Multimodal imaging in choroidal metastasis from primary adenocarcinoma of the esophagus: a case report.

Adenocarcinoma of the esophagus is an extremely rare cause of choroidal metastasis. We report a case of a 53-year-old male with a six-month history of weight loss and two months of solid dysphagia, who presented with acute vision loss of his right eye, of 2 days of evolution. Ophthalmologic examination revealed bilateral choroidal masses associated with exudative retinal detachment in the right eye. Gastroduodenoscopy revealed a mass in the distal esophagus and endoscopic biopsy evidenced esophageal adenocarcinoma. The systemic study disclosed multiple pulmonary and liver metastatic nodules an

Atypical posterior scleritis mimicking an amelanotic choroidal melanoma. A case report.

Purpose: To describe a clinical case of atypical posterior scleritis mimicking an amelanotic choroidal melanoma. Method: Observational case report of a 54-year-old woman who presented to the emergency department with photophobia and blurred vision in her left eye for three days. The development of a raised hypopigmented lesion superior to the papilla with choroidal folds and without vitritis simulated an amelanotic choroidal melanoma. Differential diagnosis took into consideration other compatible entities, including choroidal masses or orbital pseudotumor. Results: The patient was subject to

Choroidal Hemangioma in a Black Patient With Sturge-Weber Syndrome: Challenges in Diagnosis.

A black teenager presented with long-standing vision loss in his right eye. Clinical exam revealed increased conjunctival vascularity and total exudative retinal detachment of the right eye. Ultrasound imaging demonstrated a choroidal mass with moderate-to-high reflectivity consistent with a choroidal hemangioma. A closer external examination demonstrated a subtle reddish hue of the eyelids and cheek, consistent with a nevus flammeus. MRI of the brain revealed a T2 enhancing vascular mass. Collectively, these findings were consistent with Sturge-Weber Syndrome. This case highlights the need fo

[Malignant Choroidal Melanoma in T4 Orbital Stage; Prosthesis of the Orbit].

AIM: Diagnosis and treatment of tumors of the eye is extremely difficul; surgical treatment in advanced stages, when the tumor grows in the orbit, leads to extensive radical surgery of the face. The extent and nature of surgical procedures depends on the nature of the tumor process, in advanced stages is indicated mutilating surgery--exenteration of the orbit. Exenteration of the orbit due to the extrascleral extension of malignant melanoma of the uvea is very rare, unfortunately, even today in certain cases it is necessary to make such a mutilating surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Case report

Uveal melanoma in a 19-month-old child.

Uveal melanoma is extremely rare in children. Its clinical and histopathological features have been reported to be similar to those observed in adults. The tumor usually presents as a sessile or dome-shaped mass with secondary nonrhegmatogenous retinal detachment. We report a 19-month-old boy with a choroidal melanoma presenting as hemorrhagic retinal detachment and buphthalmos. The eye was enucleated, but the child subsequently died from systemic metastases.

Choroidal melanoma in a patient with congenital bilateral chorioretinal coloboma: a case report of an extremely rare association of ocular comorbities.

Clinicopathologic findings of a 44-year-old Caucasian male who presented with a congenital bilateral chorioretinal coloboma and later developed a large choroidal melanoma in his best seeing eye. The eye containing the malignant tumor was enucleated and the histopathologic findings confirmed the clinical diagnosis of choroidal melanoma, and in this case, an epithelioid cell type.

[Choroidal melanoma complicated with central retinal vein occlusion].

BACKGROUND: Various complications for choroidal melanoma have been reported. However, there are no reports on choroidal melanoma complicated with central retinal vein occlusion. CASE REPORT: A 37-year-old male showed an elevated yellowish white tumor of about 8 discs in diameter, and involving the optic disc in the left eye. Serous retinal detachment and subretinal exudate were noted around the tumor. Central retinal vein occlusion occurred concurrently. Fluorescein angiography revealed blocks due to hemorrhage and fluorescence leakage from the retinal vein. Dilation of retinal capillary vess

Complete ring melanoma of the choroid.

BACKGROUND: Ring melanoma of the uvea is a term generally applied to elongated, circumferentially oriented malignant melanomas of the iris and ciliary body; a complete ring melanoma involving almost exclusively the choroid is extremely uncommon. METHODS: The authors present a case report and clinicopathologic correlation of complete ring melanoma of choroid managed by enucleation. RESULTS: A 74-year-old woman was found to have a diffuse, melanotic thickening of the midzonal to peripheral choroid circumferentially for 360 degrees and an associated subtotal serous retinal detachment with shift

Pigmented choroid plexus papilloma.

A pigmented choroid plexus papilloma was found in the left lateral ventricle of a 15-year-old white boy with a 10-year history of seizures. Grossly the lesion appeared finely lobular, orangish brown, rubbery, gritty, and friable. Microscopic examination revealed delicate papillary formations reminiscent of normal choroid plexus, with simple cuboidal to columnar epithelium overlying fibrovascular cores. Light- and electron-microscopic studies demonstrated that the neoplastic cell pigment consisted of both neuromelanin and lipofuscin. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of neuromel

Choroidal melanoma with pigment dispersion in vitreous and melanomalytic glaucoma.

A 39-year-old black man underwent enucleation of the left eye because of poor vision, ocular pain, and intractable glaucoma secondary to a choroidal tumor. Two diagnostic vitrectomies, performed 11 and 7 months before enucleation, had failed to disclose the proper diagnosis. Histologic diagnosis was necrotic malignant melanoma of the choroid with melanocytoma cells, extensive pigment dispersion throughout the eye, and melanomalytic glaucoma. Possible mechanisms of tumor necrosis are reviewed.

[Lattice degeneration of the peripheral retina: ultrastructural study].

The ultrastructural study of a case of snail track degeneration shows the presence of lipid inclusions in both the glial and the macrophage cells in every layer of the retina, and the existence of intraretinal fibers different from collagen fibers appearing to be glial filaments similar to those found in astrocytic gliomes and to the Rosenthal fibers observed in senile nervous cells. Other features were thinning of the retina and absence of blood vessels in the retina. There are no abnormalities of the vitreo-retinal juncture. All the lesions are in agreement with those observed by Daicker [Op

Ultrastructure of disseminated choroid plexus papilloma.

A disseminated choroid plexus papilloma (DCPP) with a malignant change in the cervico-spinal leptomeninges observed 4 years after the removal of choroid plexus papilloma (CPP), originating from the fourth ventricle, was studied under the electron microscope. Although the ultrastructure of intracranial CPP has been reported by several authors, there are just a few reports on DCPP. The present tumor was ultrastructurally very similar to normal choroid plexus, but the lack of the capillary fenestration and of invaginations of the epithelial basal plasmalemmas suggested that the epithelium was dep

Ultrastructural evidence for CSF production by a choroid plexus papilloma.

A choroid plexus papilloma (CPP) removed from a child with communicating hydrocephalus was studied with the electron microscope. In addition to the usual organelles, the neoplastic epithelial cells contained polypoid microvilli, cilia, coated pinocytotic vesicles, and apical tight junctions. The basal surfaces were consistently juxtaposed to large capillaries lined by fenestrated endothelium. The fine structural details of the tumor were essentially the same as those of normal CP and thus appeared ideally suited for an active secretory function. Two additional features in this tumor were tubul
