Left pulmonary artery (LPA) stenosis is encountered in up to 65% of patients with a Fontan circulation. Stenting of LPA stenosis can be complicated by compression of the left bronchus. Five complete conduit occlusions occurred in four patients with the Glenn shunt 2 months to 2 years after the Fontan operation. The possible reasons for complete conduit occlusion were severe dehydration, high pulmonary vascular resistance, and intraoperative manipulation of the conduit. PURPOSE: Patients with single ventricle anatomy palliated with Fontan operation are at risk for thromboembolism, arrhythmia, and heart failure rendering pregnancy high risk or even contraindicated. Infertility and high rates of first trimester miscarriage are not uncommon. In vitro fertilization (IVF) with or without gestational surrogacy can be an option, but poses risks during ovarian stimulation, oocyte retrieval, and the post-procedural period. Radiofrequency catheter ablation is fast becoming the procedure of choice for the nonpharmacological treatment of atrioventricular connections that are responsible for debilitating tachycardias. We, herein, present a case of reentrant supraventricular tachycardia secondary to an atrioventricular connection in a Fontan patient that was successfully treated with radiofrequency catheter ablation.
