INTRODUCTION: Complex defects of skull bones with different etiology, still present the challenge in reconstructive surgery. The goldstandard for cranioplasty is the autologous calvarial bone graft removed during surgery which cannot be always applied, especially in gunshot wounds for sometimes complete bone destruction. Autologous reconstruction with split calvarial, rib bones or iliac bone graft is also possible. Materials routinely used for reconstructions like titanium mesh, polymethyl metacrylate (PMMA), and other have numerous disadvantages and limitations.

OBJECTIVE: Infected mucocele of the paranasal sinuses can induce orbital infection, including orbital subperiosteal abscess, which may lead to life-threatening intracranial complications. Effective diagnosis is important, and treatment should be aggressive. This paper presents our experiences in endoscopic surgical management of orbital complications secondary to infected paranasal sinus mucoceles.

Pott's Puffy Tumour (PPT) is an inflammation and swelling of the forehead secondary to osteomyelitis of the frontal bone. Multiple aetiologies are associated with this condition, predominately involving a prior sinus surgery or a direct trauma to the frontal bone. There can be intracranial extension with an epidural, subdural as well as intracerebral abscess. An invasive malignant fibrous histiocytoma associated with the left cornual process, and causing lysis of the frontal bone, was diagnosed in a cow. The mass compressed the left cerebral hemisphere focally and extended into the frontal sinus and ethmoid and nasal turbinates. It was composed of pleomorphic to spindle-shaped cells with ultra-structural evidence of fibroblastic, myofibroblastic, and fibrohistiocytic differentiation.
