We examined the distribution of binding sites for atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and the recently discovered brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) in rat kidney and heart by receptor autoradiography. In frozen kidney sections, both 125I-ANP and 125I-BNP exhibited localized binding to cortical glomeruli. Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a low-grade to intermediate-grade well-differentiated sarcoma of dermal origin. Local recurrence rates are high but distant metastases are rare. This report describes a case of vulvar DFSP requiring four resections for primary clearance. A 56-year-old woman referred after excision of a vulvar tumour and histology had DFSP extending to the resection margins. Two more extended excisions again yielded a specimen with positive margins. An 11-year-old boy had lentil-sized lichenoid papules, localized to the limbs and trunk, together with acute, nonicteric, hepatitis B surface antigen-positive hepatitis. The clinical picture and course were typical of Gianotti-Crosti disease. Monoclonal antibodies were used to study the lymphocyte subpopulations and surface antigens in the inflammatory infiltrate in frozen sections of a skin biopsy specimen. The results provide data on the pathogenic mechanism of the papular exanthem.

Sebaceous carcinoma of the eyelid, an extremely rare neoplasm, can resemble blepharitis, conjunctivitis, or chalazion, as in the case presented here. A biopsy specimen should be examined if these conditions fail to respond to therapy, especially if the lesion is unilateral. The tumor can be multifocal, and pagetoid proliferation is common. Therefore, recurrences are common after conservative surgery, even if frozen sections are obtained from the margins. Orbital exenteration may be necessary to prevent metastasis.
