INTRODUCTION: Lichen sclerosus et atrophicus (LSA) and an inversed type of psoriasis belong to a group of benign dermatoses usually located within the region of female external genitalia. The most common subjective symptoms reported by patients are itching, pain and changes in the color and structure of the skin.

Chloroxylenol, also known as p-chloro-m-xylenol (PCMX), is a compound that has been used as a preservative in cosmetics and as an active agent in antimicrobial soaps. We present two patients with allergic contact dermatitis from PCMX, confirmed by positive (+++) patch-test reactions at 48 and 72 hours, identification of PCMX in a soap and in a hand cream used by the patients, and improvement following withdrawal of the incriminating products. The mechanism of action, structure, antimicrobial activity, and dangers of PCMX are reviewed.

A 56-year-old nurse from a rural area presented with a 12-month history of hand dermatitis. She had previously been patch tested by a local medical practitioner with the thin-layer rapid-use epicutaneous test, which had shown allergies to quaternium 15 and formaldehyde. UNLABELLED: Onychomadesis describes complete nail shedding from the proximal portion; it is consecutive to a nail matrix arrest and can affect both fingernails and toenails. It is a rare disorder in children. Except for serious generalised diseases or inherited forms, most cases are considered to be idiopathic. Few reports in literature concern common triggering phenomena. We present four patients in whom the same benign viral condition in childhood appeared as a stressful event preceding onychomadesis. In each case, spontaneous complete healing of the nails was achieved within a few weeks.

Chronic hand eczema (CHE) is commonly seen in adults and often in the context of occupational exposures. Recently, there has been a growing number of cases reported among children. We conducted a systematic review using the PRISMA framework to identify cases of pediatric CHE.
