While many long-term complications of esophageal atresia (EA) have been well investigated, little is known about feeding difficulties in children after surgical correction of EA and its impact on caregivers. BACKGROUND: Patients suffering from overactive bladder/detrusor overactivity (OAB/DO) seem to benefit from body acupuncture. The study was carried out to test if auricular acupuncture (AAP), which is supposed to show an immediate effect, can also cause urodynamic changes.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of etanercept in patients with juvenile dermatomyositis (DM) refractory to standard treatment.
METHODS: Nine patients with juvenile DM prospectively received etanercept 0.4 mg/kg subcutaneous twice weekly concurrently with baseline medications for 12 weeks. Patients were reevaluated 12 weeks (week 24) after stopping etanercept. Outcome measures included a validated Disease Activity Score (DAS), serum muscle enzymes, Childhood Myositis Assessment Scale (CMAS), and nailfold capillaroscopy (NFC).
RESULTS: Six patients completed all visits; 2 patients complete

OBJECTIVE: The potential development of a noninvasive marker predicting nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
METHODS: Thirty patients with biopsy-proven nonalcoholic fatty liver disease were evaluated by numerous anthropometric, clinical and biochemical parameters.
RESULTS: Serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT; p = 0.027), log (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) (ESR; p = 0.034) and homocysteine (p = 0.041) were associated with NASH independently from gender, age and body mass index.
