We have reported previously that p95c, a novel 95-kDa cytosolic protein, was the target of autoantibodies in sera of patients with autoimmune hepatic diseases. Protein protein interactions play a significant role in maintaining the structural and functional integrity of the cell. We used multiple antigen peptides (MAPs) to analyze such interactions within the Ro (or SSA) ribonucleoprotein complex. Our data showed that 60 kD Ro and La colocalize in the nucleus of the cell. Previous data have indicated that 60 kD Ro and La co-exist via interactions with the hYRNAs. We were interested to see whether 60 kD Ro and La interact with each other through protein protein interactions. MAPs were produced with sequences derived from the autoepitopes of 60 kD Ro.

An extensive survey for bovine farcy covering 14,192 animals was conducted in the Sudan. The incidence of the disease was 31.9 per cent in Western Sudan which is regarded as an endemic area. Equine neutrophil antibody was raised in rabbits inoculated with equine neutrophils isolated to purity greater than 99.0%, using Percoll density-gradient sedimentation. Neutrophil antibody was detected by use of agar gel diffusion, leukoagglutination, indirect immunofluorescence, staphylococcal protein A and streptococcal protein G binding, and phagocytic inhibition techniques. Precipitin lines and leukoagglutination were seen in antiserum dilutions of 1:4 and 1:64, respectively.
