ECG recording of spontaneous, neurally-mediated syncope is rare. We have observed ten patients who sustained 70 syncopal episodes in whom: (1) ECG monitoring recorded syncope caused by ventricular asystole (AV block, three patients; sinus arrest; seven patients); (2) syncope and the spontaneously observed arrhythmias were reproducible by carotid sinus massage, upright tilt test, or eyeball pressure; and (3) no discernable cause of precipitating factors were detected. The vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) is a mechanism for the production of rapid compensatory eye movements during head movements. To investigate the adaptation of this reflex to spectacle magnifiers, the effect on the VOR of a brief period of wearing telescopic spectacles during head rotation was studied in normal subjects. A 65-year-old female suffered trauma to her left hand on which acrodermatitis continua (psoriasis of Hallopeau) developed. The qualitative and quantitative correspondence between the degree of motion discomfort and the skin potential reflex (SPR) was examined in four subjects. The purpose of this study was to determine the mechanism by which the feline pylorus contracts in response to duodenal acidification. Simultaneous intraluminal pressures and serosal electrical activity were recorded from the antrum, pylorus, and duodenum of the anesthetized cat. The pylorus demonstrated a narrow zone of tonically increased pressure. A technique is described for the measurement of retinal image motion under conditions of forced angular vibration of the head in pitch at frequencies between 10 and 100 Hz. The experimental technique has been used in nine normal subjects, and in two subjects with vestibular dysfunction; one with unilateral, the other with bilateral deficit.
