OBJECTIVE: To examine baseline neurocognitive functioning and symptom reporting among adolescents with self-reported autism.
METHOD: Participants in this cross-sectional, observational study were 60,751 adolescents who completed preseason testing. There were 425 students (0.7%) who self-reported an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnosis. Cognitive functioning was measured by Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing and symptom ratings were obtained from the Post-Concussion Symptom Scale.

To assess whether pressuring others to use HIV self-tests is prevalent among US men who have sex with men (MSM), we analyzed data from a randomized controlled trial of HIV self-testing. Among 752 online-recruited MSM who received HIV self-tests and responded to a 12-month survey, 8.5% (60/709) reported pressuring someone to use an HIV self-test: 29 pressured a friend, 28 pressured a sexual partner, and 1 pressured a family member. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has previously recommended that all adolescents undergo HIV testing in the United States (US). Despite these recommendations, national HIV testing among US adolescents has remained low. This study estimated the prevalence of and identified risk factors for not receiving an HIV test among adolescents with a history of sexual intercourse in New York City (NYC), an urban area that has been greatly impacted by the HIV epidemic. Cross-sectional data on 1,199 NYC high school students who completed the 2013 NYC Youth Risk Behavior Survey were used.

BACKGROUND: Several methods exist by which to assess type A behavior (TAB). Although the videotaped clinical interview is regarded as the "gold standard," self-report measures have also proved useful in assessing TAB in large population studies. The purpose of this study was to examine prospectively the relationship of TAB to risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) incidence with the use of the revised Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI-2) Type A Scale. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first test of this scale in the context of predicting CHD incidence.

Plant reproductive assurance describes the ability of a plant to successfully reproduce in an environment that is potentially devoid of conspecifics and/or pollinators. Traditionally, studies have focused on contemporary ecology-pollinator or mate availability-driving spatial patterns in reproductive assurance; however, historical processes-post-glacial range expansion-may be an understudied alternative explanation because during range expansion, selection should favor individuals with traits promoting reproductive assurance (i.e., autonomous selfing or clonal reproduction) at the range edge.
