BACKGROUND: Cardiac damage is the leading cause of death in uremic patients. This study aimed to evaluate the application of non-invasive myocardial work index (NIMWI) by echocardiography in assessing the left ventricular (LV) systolic function in uremic patients.

Heritable cardiac amyloidosis (CA) is an underrecognized cause of morbidity and mortality in the USA. It results from the accumulation of the misfolded protein transthyretin within the myocardium, resulting in amyloid transthyretin-associated cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM).
