Primary giant urethral stones are extremely rare in females, and they usually appear in the case of congenital diverticula, not as complications of surgery. Herein, we report a 54-year-old woman with a giant female urethral stone developed after tension-free obturator tape procedure. To our knowledge, this is the first late complication reported in the literature after midurethral sling procedure.

AIMS: To compare the cost-effectiveness (CE) of retropubic midurethral sling (RMS) versus transobturator midurethral sling (TMS) for the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI).
METHODS: A Markov chain decision model was created to simulate treatment of SUI with RMS versus TMS. Costing data were obtained from the Medicare RBRVS. Data regarding the efficacy and complications associated with RMS versus TMS was compiled from a literature review of 21 randomized RCTs with a minimum of 12 months follow-up, as were corresponding utilities for different continence states. Surgical treatment of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI) has become very pop- ular after respectable success with minimal invasive surgeries. This is the first report of long term vaginocutaneous fistula (VCF) plus inguinal abcess after tension-free vaginal tape (TVT). A 67 year-old woman with vaginal discharge lasting more than 3 years complained with a painful swelling in the left inguinal area for the last three months. She had a medical history of TVT sling procedure for SUI six years ago. She had no history of pelvic surgery, cancer treatment or pelvic irradiation before or after TV

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: Midurethral tapes have shown favorable clinical outcomes for treating stress urinary incontinence (SUI), but the effects of outside-in transobturator midurethral sling procedures (TOT) on women's sexual function are unclear. We hypothesized that TOT might improve sexual function in women with SUI and therefore conducted this study to investigate sexual function alteration among women who underwent TOT for urodynamic stress incontinence (USI).
METHODS: From November 2009 to October 2010, we recruited 102 women scheduled for correction of USI by TOT procedures in a

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the complications associated with the male bone-anchored sling (BAS) to determine the appropriate preoperative counseling for men considering surgery. The BAS is a surgical option for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) due to intrinsic sphincter deficiency.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 119 men who had undergone 140 BAS procedures for SUI from May 2000 to May 2009 at our institution. All complications were recorded during the follow-up visits. Pad test and questionnaire results were recorded, as available.
RESULTS: BAS was performed in 140 cases

The risk of persistent pain following a retropubic sling is rare (1%). Nerve injuries have been suspected as a cause of persistent postoperative pain. We present two cases of postoperative pain thought to be secondary to injury or mechanical distortion of two different pelvic nerves. Visual exam, cystoscopy, and MRI studies demonstrated no abnormal findings. Manual examination produced site-specific tenderness thought to be associated with a specific nerve distribution. Each patient's pain was first relieved with a local anesthetic block at the site of the pain. One patient required surgical e

PURPOSE: Objective methods are essential for evaluating post-prostatectomy incontinence. While symptom score and pad weight may be the most useful methods to evaluate preoperative vs postoperative continence, neither is useful for guiding intraoperative sling tension. The Virtue quadratic sling (Coloplast, Humlebaek, Denmark) is a new device for treating post-prostatectomy incontinence that combines a transobturator and prepubic surgical approach. We examined urethral resistance by measuring retrograde leak point pressure during key portions of the surgery.

OBJECTIVES: To report our experience of transvaginal diverticulectomy with pubovaginal sling placement in a series of 32 women with recurrent urethral pseudodiverticula.
METHODS: A total of 32 women underwent surgical repair from January 2000 to June 2007. Of the 32 women, 12 had undergone other concomitant previous urethral surgery, predominantly for stress urinary incontinence. Transvaginal excision of the diverticulum and concomitant pubovaginal sling placement were performed routinely. The women were evaluated postoperatively for symptom relief, anatomic result, and postoperative continen

PURPOSE: Post-prostatectomy incontinence remains a problem, even in minor or moderate degrees. In order to minimize surgical morbidity and costs, sling procedures have been proposed. The authors have developed a new transobturator male sling procedure and report their results after one-year experience.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A prospective multicenter study was conducted in 50 patients with minor or moderate post-prostatectomy incontinence. Evaluation of TOMS two arms bulbar sling was based on clinical form assessment, The International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire (ICIQ) and sho

This aim of this study was to determine the long-term persistence with duloxetine in a cohort of women treated for stress incontinence and any alternative treatments undertaken. Two hundred twenty-eight women prescribed duloxetine were initially reviewed after 4 weeks of treatment. Women continuing therapy were reassessed at 4 and 6 months and 1 year with a review of all treatments after 1 year. At each visit, they were asked about persistence with duloxetine, reasons for discontinuation and any alternative treatments. Seventy-one (31%) women continued beyond 4 weeks of treatment, and twenty-s

The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term effectiveness and safety of the tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) procedure. In a Nordic three-center prospective observational cohort study, 90 women with primary stress incontinence had a TVT operation performed in local anesthesia. Assessment included a 24-h pad test, a stress test, physical examination, and a visual analog scale for assessing the degree of bother. Patient's global impression of cure was obtained, and condition specific quality of life questionnaires were used. Seventy-seven percent of the initial cohort of 90 women and 89%

The objective of this study was to estimate the anatomical and functional outcome of Prolift Anterior C. All patients presenting with symptomatic stage II or greater anterior vaginal wall prolapse were considered to enter this prospective observational study. Patient characteristics and surgical parameters were prospectively documented. Anatomical outcome, as measured by the Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification (POP-Q) score, and functional outcome, as assessed by the King's College Health Questionnaire, was considered primary outcome measures. Complications constituted the secondary outcome m

A case report of urinary stress incontinence after surgery in a 20-year-old patient with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome is presented. A neovagina was successfully created with a laparoscopic-assisted Vecchietti procedure. Fifteen months later, after normal and satisfactory sexual intercourse, the patient was seen for stress urinary incontinence. A second surgery consistent with the transobturator tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) system with nonelastic polypropylene suburethral TVT allowed full correction of the urinary symptoms.
