Mobile Health Hearing Aid Acclimatization and Support Program in Low-Income Communities: Feasibility Study.

BACKGROUND: The most common management option for hearing loss is hearing aids. In addition to devices, patients require information and support, including maintenance and troubleshooting. Mobile health (mHealth) technologies can support hearing aid management, acclimatization, and use. This study developed an mHealth acclimatization and support program for first-time hearing aid users and subsequently implemented and pilot-tested the feasibility of the program. The program was facilitated by community health workers (CHWs) in low-income communities in South Africa. OBJECTIVE: This study aime

Conducting a diabetes mellitus prevention trial in women with GDM in Pakistan: a feasibility study.

BACKGROUND: Women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are at a greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) than women without GDM. Despite this elevated risk, few trials on the prevention of T2DM among South Asian women with GDM have been reported. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the feasibility of conducting a diabetes prevention program on women with a history of GDM to inform the development of a contextually relevant definitive trial. METHODS: Using a randomized controlled trial, women with GDM (n = 180) who delivered at the study hospitals (one public and one pr

A randomised controlled trial to assess the feasibility and acceptability of remote psychosocial and exercise interventions for people with lupus: The ADAPT feasibility trial.

Limited psychosocial support is available for people with lupus despite the highly reduced quality of life. This study assessed the acceptability, feasibility, and effectiveness estimations, of three (two psychosocial, one exercise) interventions. Lupus patients (N = 124) were randomised to a control arm or one of three interventions delivered remotely over 8-12 weeks: (1) listening support (The Wren project), (2) online Pilates classes, and (3) a text message and video support programme. Online follow up surveys post-intervention and six-months post-baseline included validated instruments for

Indigenous SIPin: Proof of Concept of a Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Reduction Intervention for Native American Men.

BACKGROUND: Sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) (e.g., soda/pop, juices, sports drinks, energy drinks) is the largest single food source of calories in the United States, and intake is disproportionately high among Native American (NA) men. Yet SSB interventions for this population are not available. OBJECTIVES: We conducted a proof-of-concept study of an SSB intervention (Indigenous SIPin) in 30 NA men who play lacrosse. Co-developed with NA communities using participatory approaches and guided by an Indigenous-informed theoretical framework, the intervention included group classes, recap video

Cardiac-diabetes self-management program for Australians and Taiwanese: A randomized blocked design study.

Cardiac disease and type 2 diabetes are prevalent diseases globally. Cardiac rehabilitation and diabetes self-management programs empower patients' self-management to improve their health outcomes. However, inappropriate delivery modes and continuing low participation rates indicate some programs are less than optimal. A previous study demonstrated the feasibility of incorporating telephone and text messages into a cardiac-diabetes self-management program in Australia; however, the program did not specifically address patients' cultural backgrounds. This current study used a randomized blocked

Mobile health interventions to improve adherence to oral anticoagulant treatment: A systematic review and critical analysis.

AIMS: Non-adherence to oral anticoagulants (OACs) is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Mobile health (mHealth) interventions have been used to improve medication adherence across the three phases of initiation, implementation and persistence. This review investigated the effectiveness of mHealth interventions in improving OAC adherence. METHODS: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Register and Web of Science were searched from 1/1/2000 to 14/11/2025 using terms identifying mHealth, OACs, medication adherence and randomized controlled trials. Included studies were assessed using the Ri

Smartphone-supported Positive Adjustment Coping Intervention (PACI) for couples undergoing fertility treatment: a randomised controlled trial protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Infertility generally counts as a profound crisis in the lives of couples and as an emotionally stressful experience. For couples undergoing fertility treatment, this is especially true of the waiting period following embryo transfer, which couples say is the most stressful period during treatment. However, at this specific phase, psychosocial counselling is not always available on the spot. The aim of this randomised controlled trial (RCT) study was to test the Positive Adjustment Coping Intervention (PACI), a low-dose, smartphone-supported psychological intervention for women a

mHealth in Cardiovascular Health Care.

Mobile health (mHealth) has been defined as medical and public health practice supported by mobile devices, such as mobile phones, patient monitoring devices and personal digital assistants. Cardiovascular mHealth is, arguably, leading the mHealth space, through innovation, research and implementation, and especially in the areas of prevention, cardiac rehabilitation and education. mHealth includes simple strategies, such as the use of short message service (SMS) or text messages in successful short-term smoking-cessation, weight loss and diabetes management programs. The recent Australian Tob

Behavioral and Structural Interventions for PrEP Adherence Among Young Female Sex Workers from Western Kenya.

HIV incidence is high among young female sex workers (YFSW) in Kenya. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention is recommended for at-risk populations, but its effectiveness requires consistent access and adherence. The IPrEP study compared the feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of two adherence support interventions on PrEP adherence among YFSW in Kisumu, Kenya. Study follow-up coincided with national restrictions on travel and gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We conducted an unblinded, randomized-controlled trial enrolling 18-24 year-old HIV-negative YFSW with no

Exploring trait- and state-based dietary restraint using ecological momentary assessment.

Researchers often use trait-based questionnaires to characterise dietary restraint, but it is unclear how this relates to real-life appetite and eating behaviour. Advances in technology have facilitated the development of ecological momentary assessment (EMA), an approach which captures everyday experiences in real-time. The aim of this study was to use our novel EMA tool (Momentary appetite capture; MAC) to investigate appetite and prospective portion-size selection throughout the day in 'trait-based' restrained eaters, and to explore whether 'state-based' dietary restraint can be measured us

Combating vaccine hesitancy: The case of HPV vaccination.

Cervical cancer, primarily caused by persistent Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection, remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women in low- and middle-income countries. Although HPV vaccines are widely available in these regions, vaccine uptake remains persistently low. To address behavioral barriers contributing to this low demand, we employed a mixed-method design combining qualitative analysis with a large-scale randomized evaluation of a behaviorally informed SMS campaign targeting parents in Cali, Colombia. Our study included 15,231 parents, who were randomized in
