OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to provide basic information on the metabolic fate of five trialkyltins, namely, trimethyltin, triethyltin, tripropyltin, tributyltin, and trioctyltin, in rats.

We report systematic results from ab initio calculations with density functional theory on three cubic structures, zincblende (zb), rocksalt (rs) and cesium chloride (cc), of the ten 3d transition metal nitrides. This paper reports the use of a tin dioxide multisensor array based electronic nose for recognition of 29 typical aromas in white wine. Headspace technique has been used to extract aroma of the wine. Multivariate analysis, including principal component analysis (PCA) as well as probabilistic neural networks (PNNs), has been used to identify the main aroma added to the wine. The results showed that in spite of the strong influence of ethanol and other majority compounds of wine, the system could discriminate correctly the aromatic compounds added to the wine with a minimum accuracy of 97.2%.

In 2009, this lab re-conducted the same research from 2006 that focused on concentrations of chlorothalonil, dichlofluanid, and Irgarol in the major bays of Korea, in order to assess changes in concentrations. The electric field gradient components for the tin nucleus of 34 tin compounds of experimentally known structures and (119)Sn Mössbauer spectroscopy parameters were computed at the scalar relativistic density functional theory level of approximation. The influence of tin foil and Ni coatings on microstructures, mechanical properties, and the interfacial reaction mechanism was investigated during laser welding/brazing of Al/Cu lap joints. In the presence of a Zn-based filler, tin foil as well as Ni coating strengthened the Al/Cu joints. The tin foil only slightly influenced the joint strength. It considerably improved the spreading/wetting ability of the weld filler; however, it weakened the bonding between the seam and the Al base metal. Chiral 1D tin iodides EBASnI3 were synthesized while incorporating enantiomerically pure and racemic ethylbenzylammonium (EBA) cations between the 1D shared inorganic corners. The dimensionality was reduced to 0D when replacing iodine with bromine. In all the cases, the presence of hydrogen bonds was observed between the organic part and the inorganic part, while transfer of chirality was evidenced for the EBASnI3 enantiomerically pure compounds.

The organic side chain of tin-substituted Dawson polyoxotungstates alpha1- and alpha2-[P2W17O61{SnCH2CH2COOH}]7- can be used to direct regioselective acylations of oxo ligands in the inorganic backbone, which was examined both experimentally and computationally. Acylation of the oxo ligand gave exalted electrophilicity to the acyl moiety, and the compounds that were obtained led to direct ligation of POMs to complex organic molecules.
