Pubosymphyseal urinary fistula (PUF) is a rare condition that involves an abnormal connection between the urinary bladder and the pubic bone. It can occur after trauma, radiation therapy, or surgery to the pelvis. It is also reported with chronic indwelling Foley catheter use. Here we report the case of a urinary bladder leiomyoma in a rhesus macaque. The animal was clinically normal and had a lipoma localized to the stifle. Endovesicular leiomyomas are the most common form of urinary bladder leiomyoma in humans. In contrast, this macaque's tumor exhibited extravesicular localization in the bladder. Urinary bladder leiomyomas account for less than 0.5% of all bladder tumors in humans, with only 250 cases reported in total.

A 66-year-old man presented with a long history of recurrent attacks of urinary retention and lower urinary tract symptoms. Flexible cystoscopy showed a urethral stricture. Follow-up cystoscopy 7 years later for recurrent symptoms demonstrated unusual extensive mucosal brown to black pigmentation, which proved histopathologically to be a simple bladder melanosis. Follow-up demonstrated complete resolution over a period of 1 year with no specific treatment. In this report, we highlighted a rare bladder abnormality with uncertain natural history.

Along with advantages, evolving surgical techniques bring unique complications. A young male developed urinary symptoms a few months after undergoing laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. On evaluation, mesh erosion into the urinary bladder was found. Removal of mesh with repair of bladder was done. A vesico-cutaneous fistula resulted which was managed with repeat surgery. We review all such cases reported in literature; discuss the etiopathogenesis, presentation, management and possible preventive measures. To the best of our knowledge, this is only the 12th case being reported.

Inguinal herniation of the urinary bladder is an extremely rare occurrence involving less than 5% of inguinal hernias reported in literature. These hernias require a high index of suspicion for their diagnosis and pose significant challenges to the operating surgeon. The majority of these hernias have been repaired by an open technique.
