BACKGROUND: Congenital tracheobiliary or bronchobiliary fistulae are rare developmental malformations associated with high morbidity and mortality primarily because of concomitant anomalies as well as delays in diagnosis.
TECHNICAL REPORT: We report a case of a neonate who presented with bilious emesis and progressive respiratory failure requiring bronchoscopy and fluoroscopic bronchography for diagnosis with successful management through video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. BACKGROUND: Gallstone ileus is a rare complication of chronic calcular cholecystitis and an uncommon etiological entity responsible for mechanical intestinal obstruction. The most common obstructed part is the narrow terminal ileum, whereas the jejunum is rarely affected. As a complication of hydatid cyst disease of the liver, bronchobiliary fistula is a rare condition and manifests as bilioptysis. We report the case of a 34 year-old man with echinococcosis of the liver who developed a bronchobiliary fistula which manifested as chronic cough and bile stained sputum. Hydatic cyst of the liver remains a serious public health problem in Morocco and several other Mediterranean countries. This benign affection can cause serious sometimes fatal complications such as cyst rupture into the biliary ducts or the thorax. We present the case of a patient with serofibrous pleurisy and recall the often late diagnosis of hydatic cyst. Biliary pleural fistulization is a rare but serious complication.

We describe a patient with cholecystoduodenal fistula treated by a laparoscopic approach. Use of a flexible videoscope, flexible retractor, and endoscopic transecting stapler allows for laparoscopic treatment of cholecystoenteric fistulae.

A rare case of cholecysto-duodenal-colic fistula presenting with non-faeculent vomiting, diarrhoea and loss of weight and appetite is reported. This fistula was demonstrated both by barium and endoscopic studies. She was treated with a simple closure of the fistulous tract and a cholecystectomy with good results. The surgical management of this condition is simple and rewarding.

Analysing our twenty years' materials--394 cases, we found a high percentage of complications--79 percent. Cases of infections suppurations and calcifications due to parasites were most numerous 41 percent. Next, but surgically more interesting were cases of perforations in the abdominal cavity, then penetrations into the bile ducts, the diaphragm and the thorax, and finally cases of the gall bladder affected by the perycyst due to parasites.
