OBJECTIVE: To retrospectively evaluate the clinical presentation of complete molar pregnancies in an academic primary obstetrics and gynecology practice over the past decade.
STUDY DESIGN: All cases of abnormal pregnancy presenting to our institution during the first half of gestation were identified through a computerized database. Clinical presentation and course of complete moles were analyzed.

Molar pregnancy has not been reported in women past the age of 57 in the English literature. This report reviews a 60-year-old woman who presented with irregular bleeding and was diagnosed as having a complete hydatidiform mole. The patient underwent hysterectomy and had spontaneous return of her human chorionic gonadotropin levels to normal. Diagnosis in this age group depends on a high level of suspicion, and hysterectomy should be considered due to the high risk of postmolar gestational trophoblastic tumor after suction uterine evacuation.

Second-trimester distributions of the free beta human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels in 420 twin and 19 triplet pregnancies were measured and compared with the distributions in 6661 singleton pregnancies. Carcinoma of the uterine cervix is the commonest tumour in India. Our study on the biological behaviour of cervical carcinoma was made with respect to oncofetoprotein expression, histopathology and scanning electron microscopy. A clinical picture was compared with the above three parameters to note the embryonic degeneration of the tumour. The objective of this study was to establish a new grading system of tumour pathology which might be an adjunct to clinical staging. This should be helpful for the formulation of different treatment protocols.

The histories of 386 patients with untreated hydatidiform mole were reviewed to define the clinical aspects of accompanying theca lutein cysts. These cysts occurred in 102 patients (26.4%), with three patients experiencing cyst-related complications.
