Cutaneous complications were studied in 120 patients who received azathioprine and prednisone for six months to ten years. Anal condylomas result from papillomavirus infection, the most common sexually transmitted disease. The principal risk is the development of cancer of the anal canal. The risk of contamination is high, even after a single sexual contact. No specific antiviral treatment is available and no consensus has been reached on the appropriate treatment of anal condylomas. Despite the development of various methods (interferon, imiquimod), electrocoagulation remains the treatment of choice. Finally, regular follow-up and treatment of the partner(s) are essential.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the human papillomavirus (HPV) subtypes in vulvovaginal warts in prepubescent children.
DESIGN: Histopathology case … DNA in all 9 (100%) of the biopsies.
CONCLUSION: Detection of genital subtypes of HPV in childhood condylomata acuminata points strongly to sexual abuse, but should only be used as a guide to further investigation by a multidisciplinary team.
