Eosinophilic cystitis is a rare inflammatory disease of the bladder; it rarely occurs in children. Patients typically show irritative urination symptoms frequently, with a possible need for urgency, alongside dysuria, gross haematuria, suprapubic pain and painful urination. Sometimes bladder mass accumulation with the possibility of malignancy is also observed. We present an 8-year-old male patient who gained admission for terminal hematuria and discuss the management of eosinophilic cystitis.

Although many treatments have been applied to treat hormone-refractory prostate cancer (HRPC), therapeutic outcome is not altogether satisfactory. In the case of locally recurring HRPC, uncontrolled gross hematuria, dysuria, and scalding are often experienced. We report a patient who improved following intra-arterial infusion of cisplatin (CDDP) and ifosfamide (IFM) to treat urinary retention caused by locally recurring HRPC. After chemotherapy, cancer volume was remarkably reduced and symptoms improved.

A 90-year-old male with prostatic hyperplasia with a history of ischemic heart disease and right-sided hemiplegia had undergone a Urolume stent placement because of acute urinary retention 9 months earliar. The stent had migrated into the bladder causing dysuria and a poor stream of urine. We fragmented the prostatic stent by Holmium (HO: YAG) laser followed by a laser prostatectomy. After the procedure, the patient voided satisfactorily.

A 57-year-old woman, known to have diabetes mellitus, presented with a one-week history of fever, dysuria, and left flank pain. Computed tomography showed extensive left renal parenchymal destruction and a large gas collection. Urine culture revealed growth of Escherichia coli. The diagnosis of emphysematous pyelonephritis was confirmed at left nephrectomy. The clinical manifestations of emphysematous pyelonephritis, types of gas-forming renal infection, and their radiological findings are discussed.

A 17-year-old female was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of right-sided abdominal and flank pain, slight dysuria, and tactile temperature. Her presumptive diagnosis was pyelonephritis. She weighed 73.5 kg and had had a previous normal pregnancy. Pathology revealed multiple yellow calculi with thickened wall of the gallbladder, consistent with chronic pyelonephritis. She continued to have intermittent symptoms and underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy 2 months after admission.

Radiation therapy plays a critical role in the management of locally advanced vulvar cancers but can lead to a unique spectrum of side effects, with >25% of patients experiencing high-grade toxicities. The treatment phase requires meticulous perineal skincare and may require pharmacologic management of dysuria and cystitis, diarrhea, nausea, and dermatitis/mucositis. The addition of chemotherapy warrants close laboratory monitoring for hematologic and metabolic derangements.

Intra-renal-pelvic hydatid cyst is a rare manifestation of renal hydatid disease, as most of the renal hydatid cysts are based in the renal cortex. We present and discuss the clinical and radiological findings of a 55-year-old woman who presented with left flank pain, frequency, dysuria, and hydatiduria. She was thoroughly investigated radiologically, and the diagnosis of intra-renal-pelvic hydatid cyst was confirmed surgically.

We came across an interesting case which was presented with fever, dysuria and perineal pain, not responding to antibiotics. The computed tomography scan showed periurethral abscess containing multiple air specs with involvement of bilateral corpora cavernosa. We successfully treated this patient with endoscopic drainage. Spontaneous periurethral and corporal abscess in male is a rare entity and emphysematous form in corpora has not been described before.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors (IMTs) of the bladder are rarely encountered bladder tumors during the pediatric age. The unknown malignant potential of these tumors causes controversy for their treatment and follow-up. We report a 10-year-old girl who was referred to our clinic with dysuria and enuresis. The clinicopathological evaluation was compatible with IMT and a bladder preserving approach was used. There was no recurrence in the first year of follow-up examinations.

Carcinosarcoma of the bladder is a very unusual neoplasm that arises more frequently in males with a greater incidence in the seventh decade of life. There are no patognomonic clinical findings or symptoms to address its presence. Symptoms, as for other bladder cancers, are fundamentally represented by haematuria and dysuria. It has a very aggressive clinical behaviour and it is histologically characterized by a malignant epithelial component associated with a sarcoma-like (sarcomatoid) component variably represented.

Each year, around 5% of women present to their GPs with dysuria and frequency. About half have a urinary tract infection, as confirmed by the presence of a threshold ('significant') number of bacteria in their urine (usually defined as > or = 10(5)/mL). In the remaining women, symptoms occur in the absence of bacterial infection: this condition is referred to as urethral syndrome. In this article, we discuss the diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract infection in women.

A rare case of chronic obstructive uropathy from urethral stenosis secondary to valvular dystrophy presenting as complete acute urinary retention preceded by progressive dysuria in a 77-year-old patient is described. Patient age and ultrasound evidence of bilateral hydronephrosis led us to suspect obstructive anuria from a neoplasm. The literature is reviewed, highlighting the role of gynecological disorders in the etiopathogenesis of female obstructive uropathy.

The outcomes of using low-energy helium-neon laser radiation in a complex management of 21 patients with complicated forms of nephrotuberculosis are illustrated. LG-75 laser (with 0.63 nm wavelength and 25 mW power) was used in this case. The effects appeared as a larger bladder capacity, cystoscopic picture normalization and an overall cessation of dysuria were observed as a result of 5 to 12 sessions of bladder mucosa radiation.

Invasive epidermoid carcinoma of the urinary bladder is described in a young woman with a long history of bladder infections and extensive squamous metaplasia without atypia. The literature on squamous metaplasia and leukoplakia progressing to epidermoid carcinoma of the chronic dysuria, bladder infections, and long histories of squamous metaplasia of the bladder should be followed up very closely. If epidermoid carcinoma of the bladder develops, they should undergo radical surgery.

This is a case of a 71-year-old smoker man who presented with four days of gross hematuria, which turned to be caused by eosinophilic cystitis (EC) proven by bladder biopsy. EC is a rare clinical and pathological inflammatory condition of the bladder with an unknown exact cause. It can present with hematuria, urinary frequency, dysuria, and suprapubic pain. Sometimes, the presentation can mimic urinary tract infection (UTI) or malignancy, especially in older patients.

Mullerian duct remnants result from incomplete regression, a defect that occurs during sexual differentiation. Ninety percent of patients with mullerian remnants also have an associated disorder of sexual differentiation such as hypospadias. Presenting signs and symptoms are recurrent bladder infection, perineal pain, dysuria, or infertility. The purpose of this case report is to recount an unusual presentation of a mullerian duct remnant with recurrent epididymo-orchitis and to discuss the embryology, diagnosis, and management of this condition.

We present a 55-year-old male who presented with painful non-healing ulcers on the lower lip and scrotum associated with productive cough, fever, anorexia and dysuria. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate was raised, sputum was positive for acid fast bacilli. Chest X-ray was suggestive of pulmonary tuberculosis. A prostate biopsy was also suggestive of tuberculosis. A diagnosis of disseminated tuberculosis was made and the patient showed a good response in two weeks.

We report a case of paraurethral leiomyoma in a female patient, in which the first symptoms were dysuria and sensation of incomplete voiding. The physical examination revealed a mass in the anterior vaginal wall. The diagnosis was made through ultrasonography and pelvic MRI and confirmed by transvaginal ultrasound-guided needle biopsy. The surgical excision was accomplished without opening the urinary tract. A review of the relevant published studies and a suggestion for the appropriate management of these cases are included.

Acute gonococcal urethritis is usually a symptomatic infection in males. Most men will present within one or two weeks after an exposure with symptoms of urethral discharge and dysuria. Early diagnosis is possible in genitourinary medicine clinics with typical signs and symptoms along with microscopy awaiting confirmation by culture and sensitivities. We report a case of gonorrhoea in which we believe the symptoms were masked due to regular use of steroids in a body builder.

We report on a rare case of cystitis glandularis complicating an eosinophilic cystitis in an adult. Complaints at presentation included dysuria, haematuria and abdominal pain. Ultrasound and cystoscopy suggested a bladder tumor. Histological analysis of bladder biopsy showed the typical findings of cystitis glandularis associated with eosinophilic cystitis. The patient was treated with transurethral resection of the lesion and a combination of corticosteroids and anthistaminics for three months. He is disease-free at 24 months of follow-up.
