Mapping the body: poetic metaphor and AI imaging in Carol Ann Duffy's 'The Map-Woman'.

This article offers an interdisciplinary analysis of Carol Ann Duffy's poem 'The Map-Woman', examining the metaphor of the female body as a map in relation to artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted medical imaging technologies. The study explores how Duffy's poetic rendering of the body as a cartographic surface fixed with streets, landmarks and memories resonates with contemporary practices of bodily visualisation in diagnostic medicine. Drawing on feminist theory, spatial poetics and digital epistemologies, this article argues that both poetry and AI imaging engage in acts of mapping the body

AI utilization, enjoyment, trust and instructor competence as predictors of intercultural communication competence among Chinese students.

International students in China navigate both linguistic and cultural adaptation demands in classrooms increasingly infused with artificial intelligence (AI). Guided by the broaden-and-build theory of positive emotions, this study tested whether AI-mediated learning enjoyment channels the impact of AI-mediated interaction utilization on communication competence in intercultural contexts, and whether trust in AI recommendations and instructor AI pedagogical competence strengthen this indirect effect. Survey data from 427 students in Wuhan, Xi’an, and Hangzhou were analyzed using PLS-SEM. Result

Emotion regulation and aggressive behavior in preschoolers: the mediating role of social information processing.

This study examined whether the relation between maladaptive emotion regulation and aggression was mediated by deviant social information processing (SIP). Participants were 193 preschool children. Emotion regulation and aggression were rated by teachers. Deviant SIP (i.e., attribution of hostile intent, aggressive response generation, aggressive response evaluation and decision) was measured from children's responses to hypothetical social conflicts. Findings revealed that the relation between maladaptive emotion regulation and aggression was direct and not mediated by SIP biases (i.e., aggre

Artificial intelligence addiction among university students in China: risk stratification, consequences, and exercise-based intervention.

With the deep integration of artificial intelligence into daily life, AI-addiction-like tendencies have emerged as a potential form of behavioral dependency among university students. Focusing on high-frequency AI users on campus, this study examined risk stratification of problematic AI use, real-life impacts, and the preliminary pre-post improvements following exercise-based interventions. A cross-sectional survey assessed AI usage patterns and functional impacts, identifying a substantial proportion of students with at least mild risk of problematic AI use. Problematic AI use was associated

Implementing a direct support staff intervention in services for people with intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviour using the ItFits framework: From needs to action.

BACKGROUND: Effective interventions often fail to achieve lasting impact due to implementation barriers. This study examined how Support Staff in the Spotlight - an intervention that enhances emotional intelligence and interactional awareness among support staff working with service users with intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviour - can be embedded in daily routines within intellectual disability care. METHOD: Using a hybrid effectiveness-implementation-design guided by the ItFits-framework, two Dutch care organisations completed a two-part-process: a needs assessment to identif…

Social narratives in agenesis of the corpus callosum: linguistic analysis of the Thematic Apperception Test.

In a previous study, individuals with agenesis of the corpus callosum (ACC) with normal intelligence provided narratives to pictures from the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) that were limited in logical coherence and social awareness. The current study examined the linguistic content of TAT stories from 22 persons with isolated complete ACC compared to 30 IQ- and age-matched controls using the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (Pennebaker et al., 2001). Compared to controls, individuals with ACC used fewer words pertaining to emotionality, cognitive processes, and social processes. They also

The outcome of adolescent school phobia.

A hundred-and-twenty-five school phobic youngsters had been treated in a psychiatric in-patient unit for young adolescents of secondary school age over a seven-year period; a hundred of them were reviewed on average three years after discharge. About a third of cases were found to have improved little; they had persistent severe symptoms of emotional disturbance and continuing social impairment. Another third had improved appreciably and were affected by neurotic symptoms rather than social impairment. The remaining third had improved substantially or completely. School attendance difficulties

Mechanism of AI chatbot anthropomorphism on consumer impulse buying in live streaming scenarios based on SOR framework.

As artificial intelligence (AI) is integrated into real-time e-commerce, it is necessary to study how AI virtual hosts affect consumers' immediate purchase decisions. This research is based on the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework and explores the psychological mechanism by which the characteristics of AI hosts influence impulsive purchases. The scenario-based experiments show that AI anthropomorphism (ANT) and social conversation cues (SCC) affect impulsive purchases through two mediating states: cognitive trust and emotional arousal. The results indicate that the association betwe

Creative IDEA: Introducing a Statewide Art Therapy in Prisons Program.

Education is regarded as an avenue for success while the under-educated are disproportionately more likely to be incarcerated and remain within the correctional system. Current prison reforms have focused on increasing access to educational programming. However, these programs are not designed to address the lack of control, poor self-regulation, low emotional intelligence, inadequate social skills, or lack of internal motivation that hinder progress. Art therapy has been found effective in mitigating these impediments. Recognizing this, a partnership arose between a state Department of Correc…
