Use of technology to provide mental health services to youth experiencing homelessness: a scoping review protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Despite the importance to address mental health issues as early as possible, youth experiencing homelessness (YEH) often lack prompt and easy access to health services. Recently, there has been a surge of studies focusing on leveraging technology to improve access to mental health services for YEH; however, limited efforts have been made to synthesise this literature, which can have important implications for the planning of mental health service delivery. Thus, this scoping review aims to map and synthesise research on the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs)

Determining the key elements of community-based care for women and partners following a stillbirth or second trimester miscarriage: protocol for a realist synthesis.

INTRODUCTION: Stillbirth and second trimester miscarriage have wide-reaching consequences for women, their partners and their families. There is currently little community-based care provision within the National Health Service for women and partners who have had a stillbirth or second trimester miscarriage. There is a research gap in the evidence to guide best practice. This review will seek to understand how, when and where this care is best delivered. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: The aim of this review is to identify the key elements of community-based care following a stillbirth or second trimes

Prevalence of tinnitus and/or hyperacusis in children and adolescents: study protocol for a systematic review.

INTRODUCTION: There is some debate as to what extent epidemiological data for the prevalence of childhood tinnitus can be relied on. While indications are that the prevalence is relatively high, referral numbers for children with tinnitus are reported to be low and many of the studies have a number of methodological difficulties. We describe the protocol of a systematic review aimed at assessing the prevalence of tinnitus and/or hyperacusis in children and young people. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: We will include studies of any design (except case reports or case series) comparing the prevalence of

ADNOLA trial: a study-protocol - a randomised controlled trial study comparing adnexal surgery by vNOTES or laparoscopy.

INTRODUCTION: Adnexal surgery is one of the most common surgeries performed in women. Minimally invasive methods are on the rise globally as they have been shown to decrease surgical morbidity compared with abdominal surgery. Adnexal surgery by vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) is the latest innovation. It combines the vaginal approach and endoscopy via the vagina. Large pragmatic randomised controlled trials (RCTs) are lacking comparing outcomes after vNOTES and conventional laparoscopy. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: A multicentre pragmatic RCT aiming to recruit 200 wo

Latent tuberculosis infection and the EndTB Strategy: ethical tensions and imperatives.

Latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) is increasingly recognised as central to programmatic TB activity, and a critical element in global progress towards TB elimination. LTBI affects a much larger group of people than active disease, who by definition are asymptomatic. Furthermore, while LTBI represents a state of risk, there remains significant uncertainty regarding which individuals will progress to active disease. Therefore, the development and implementation of LTBI management policies within the End TB Strategy requires careful ethical consideration. This article reviews ethical issues re

Developing the supportive care bundle for mothers of infants hospitalised in the neonatal intensive care unit: protocol for a multimethod study.

INTRODUCTION: Neonatal admission to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) represents an acute crisis for the family, particularly for the mother. During this period, mothers face a broad spectrum of care-related, emotional, informational and supportive needs; when these needs are not adequately addressed, serious negative consequences for maternal mental health and the mother–infant bond may ensue. Despite the significance of this issue, a comprehensive and culturally adapted care bundle for this population remains notably absent within Iran's healthcare system. The present study aims to dev

INTRODUCTION: Anifrolumab (Saphnelo) is approved for adult patients with moderate-severe systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Considering its commercialisation in Spain in 2023, observational studies describing the use of anifrolumab in routine clinical practice are limited. The aim of the AZAHAR study is to describe the characteristics and clinical outcomes of patients with SLE who initiated anifrolumab during its first year of marketing in Spain. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This is an observational retrospective study including ~120 patients with moderate-severe SLE who received anifrolumab in Spa

Evaluating the effectiveness of the National Health Insurance Subsidy Programme within Kenya's universal health coverage initiative: a study protocol.

BACKGROUND: Low-income and middle-income countries, including Kenya, are pursuing universal health coverage (UHC) through the establishment of Social Health Insurance programmes. As Kenya rolls out the recently unveiled UHC strategy that includes a national indigent cover programme, the goal of this study is to evaluate the impact of health insurance subsidy on poor households' healthcare costs and utilisation. We will also assess the effectiveness and equity in the beneficiary identification approach employed. METHODOLOGY AND ANALYSIS: Using a quantitative design with quasi-experimental and

Levofloxacin versus placebo for the treatment of latent tuberculosis among contacts of patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (the VQUIN MDR trial): a protocol for a randomised controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) plays a substantial role in the prevention of drug-susceptible tuberculosis (TB). However, clinical trials to evaluate the efficacy of preventive therapy for presumed multidrug-resistant (MDR) LTBI are lacking. This trial aims to evaluate the efficacy of the antibiotic levofloxacin in preventing the development of active TB among latently infected contacts of index patients with MDR-TB. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: A double-blind placebo-controlled parallel group randomised controlled trial will be conducted in 10 provinces of Vietnam.

Effect of changes in serum levels of endogenous hydrogen sulfide on fracture healing: Study protocol clinical trial (SPIRIT compliant).

BACKGROUND: Fracture is a common disease; many factors affect fracture healing. Recent studies have confirmed that hydrogen sulfide (H2S) plays an essential role in bone formation, but most of these studies are drawing conclusions based on animal experiment; whether H2S could promote fracture healing in patients is still unclear. We aim to investigate the change of serum H2S in fracture patients, and analyze its effort on fracture healing. METHODS: This is a single-center, prospective cohort study. Patients with spinal or limb fracture will be recruited. Patient's serum and urine will be coll

Exploring risk factors for comorbid depression in osteoarthritis: a scoping review protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Globally, osteoarthritis (OA) is the most prevalent musculoskeletal disease, affecting approximately 600 million people. It is characterised by progressive degeneration of the articular cartilage, osteophyte formation and asymmetric joint space narrowing, leading to pain, stiffness and functional impairment. The current focus of disease management is on symptom relief and functional improvement. However, these interventions frequently do not provide adequate outcomes. This may be attributed to a lack of consideration for contextual factors, including the presence of comorbidities

Characteristics and Timing of Dual Pediatric Palliative Care and Ethics Consultations.

Patients with serious illness hospitalized in the pediatric setting can receive support from Pediatric Palliative Care (PPC) and Ethics Consultation (EC). However, empirical data on dual PPC-EC involvement in pediatrics is limited. Therefore, we characterized ethical issues, contextual features, palliative care domains, and consultation timing for inpatients with dual PPC-EC involvement. We reviewed 135 EC from 2016 to 2023 at an academic children's hospital to identify cases with PPC involvement. PPC notes, demographics, and admission, consultation and discharge dates were extracted from the

Immediate versus delayed dental implant placement: an umbrella review protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Immediate dental implant placement has been proposed as a strategy to reduce treatment time and improve patient satisfaction. However, systematic reviews addressing immediate versus delayed implant placement have reported inconsistent findings, limiting clinical interpretability. An umbrella review is warranted to synthesise, appraise and contextualise the existing evidence. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This umbrella review will include systematic reviews with or without meta-analysis comparing immediate implant placement after tooth extraction with delayed placement in healed sites. Clinical effectiveness and implementation outcomes of pMDI-to-DPI switch in children between 5 and 12 years of age: a scoping review protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Inhalers are critical in asthma treatment, and inappropriate inhaler use leads to poor asthma outcomes. In adults and adolescents, dry powder inhalers (DPIs) are safe and effective alternatives to mainstay pressurised metered dose inhalers and could bridge the asthma care gap while also reducing the environmental burden of asthma care. Despite being licensed for use in ages 5 years old and older, the evidence for clinical effectiveness is less clear for patients between ages 5 and 12 years. This protocol describes a scoping review. The primary aim of the review is to identify and
