An 11-year-old male castrated domestic shorthair cat was presented for evaluation due to clinical deterioration and potential extrahepatic biliary obstruction (EHBO). CASE DESCRIPTION: A 15-year-old sexually intact female ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta) was evaluated for a heart murmur and progressive radiographic cardiomegaly.
CLINICAL FINDINGS: The lemur was clinically normal at the time of initial evaluation. Results of transthoracic echocardiography performed when the animal was anesthetized indicated mitral valve stenosis and severe left atrial dilation. Three months later, signs of left-sided congestive heart failure (CHF; coughing, exercise intolerance, and tachypnea) were observed and confirmed by the presence of radiographic pulmonary edema.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the safety of histotripsy at the hepatic capsule when the treatment zone extends into the gastric wall in a live porcine model.
METHODS: Spherical 2.5 cm histotripsy treatments (n = 12 treatments) were performed in the livers of six swine with treatment margins extending ∼5 mm into the adjacent gastric wall. In this study, the influence of slaughter methods on the volatile compounds (VOCs) in sea bass was investigated using electronic nose (E-nose) technology and gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (GC-IMS).
