Metastatic patterns of fibrosarcoma (FS) and Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC) cells transplanted into mouse uteri of various reproductive stages, were investigated. Tumour cells were infused non-surgically into the lumen of 3-day post coitum pregnant uterus or into non-pregnant uterus of known estrus stage. The fate of these tumour cells was studied histologically on days 2, 5 and 10 post treatment. The four common types of small bowel malignancies have different clinical presentations, routes of metastatic spread, and prognoses, and may require selective treatment. A review of our experience over a 16-year period revealed 45 cases: 16 adenocarcinomas, 13 carcinoids, nine leiomyosarcomas, five lymphomas, and two fibrosarcomas. Carcinosarcomas are a very rare group of true malignant tumors of the salivary gland. As the name indicates, the tumor is composed of an epithelial and a mesenchymal component, both malignant. A survey was carried out on the neoplasms of horses, donkeys and mules which are recorded in the registration files of the Section of Pathology of the Veterinary Research Institute, Onderstepoort, in the Republic of South Africa, over a 40-year period from 1935 to 1974. Nine cases of untreatable tumour in which radical surgery was employed palliatively are presented. Three hemipelvectomies for recurrent rhabdomyosarcoma were performed. PURPOSE: Myxoinflammatory fibroblastic sarcoma (MIFS) is a rare, low-grade sarcoma affecting with predilection the acral soft tissues of middle-aged adults. Clinically, MIFS is associated with a high rate of local recurrence but infrequent distant metastases. Lesions on the scalp are frequently encountered in clinical practice. Commonly diagnosed lesions include epidermal inclusion cysts (EICs), dermoid cysts and lipomas. Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a low-grade malignant skin tumour occurring mostly in the extremities. However, its occurrence on the scalp is unusual, with an incidence of <5%. This lesion is rarely known to undergo fibrosarcomatous transformation. We present two such rare cases of DFSP of the scalp, with fibrosarcomatous transformation, masquerading clinically as EIC.
