Beyond information seeking: a latent profile analysis of financial media repertoires and psychological motivations among Chinese users.

INTRODUCTION: In the digital era, financial information acquisition is a complex behavioral outcome driven by individual psychological needs and structural constraints. Drawing on the Duality of Media framework and Uses and Gratifications (U&G) theory, this study investigates the cross-platform financial media repertoires of Chinese audiences and unpacks the psychological and structural mechanisms driving these configurations. METHODS: Based on a survey of 1,002 participants, Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) was employed to identify distinct behavioral patterns. Multinomial logistic regressions,

Burden of treatment associated with hearing aid use among older adults with hearing loss: a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Treatment burden can affect patients' ability to carry out tasks or follow healthcare providers' recommendations. Evaluating the burden of using and maintaining hearing aids can help identify factors that affect patient compliance. This study also examined the support that older adults receive and prefer to overcome this burden. This enables healthcare providers to better understand the burden and promote improved adherence to hearing aid use among older adults. METHODS: We conducted a qualitative study using semi-structured interviews with older adults recruited from the Audiolog

"We have to amplify what we saw at EBOVAC" - Assessing participant perceptions, attitudes, and acceptability of an ancillary care policy in an Ebola vaccine trial in the Democratic Republic of the Congo: A mixed methods study.

INTRODUCTION: In a vaccine trial conducted between 2019 and 2022 in Boende, a remote, resource-constrained area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, our research team developed an ancillary care (AC) policy to provide adequate care and follow-up for concomitant adverse events (AE), whether study-related or not. The trial aimed to assess the safety and immunogenicity of an Ebola vaccine regimen among approximately 700 healthcare providers and frontliners to strengthen outbreak preparedness in this Ebola-endemic region, where access to healthcare is severely limited by poverty, weak infrastr

Psychological distress and associated stressors with proposed stress reduction model for Chinese international postgraduate students in Malaysia: A cross-sectional study.

INTRODUCTION: In recent years, there has been an exponential rise in students inbound to Malaysia to pursue their postgraduate studies. In particular, Chinese international postgraduate students (CIPS) represent a rapidly growing student population in this country, which is postulated to lead to substantial psychological distress resulting from academic, cultural, and financial adjustments that are required of the students immersing themselves in a new environment. Nevertheless, quantitative evidence regarding depression, anxiety, and stress among CIPS in Malaysian public universities remains

Acceptability and effect on food choices of incentives promoting more sustainable diets among low-income consumers: A qualitative study.

In the context of rising food costs, low-income consumers are likely to lack financial access to a sustainable diet primarily composed of healthy plant-based food. To promote a change towards more sustainable food habits, vouchers for fruit, vegetables and legumes redeemable in supermarkets have been experimented in the urban area of Dijon (France). The objective of the study was to explore the acceptability of the intervention and the effects of the vouchers on food choices through participants' perceptions. Face-to-face semi-structured interviews were conducted with twenty-seven participants

Debt stress partly explains the relationship between problem gambling and comorbid mental health problems.

RATIONALE: Easy access to consumer credit products, such as credit cards, overdrafts, and personal loans, may facilitate gambling beyond affordable levels, which can result in debt problems. Debt and mental health problems are both potential motivators and core consequences of problem gambling. Debt stress (i.e., worry regarding ability to repay debts) is one potential psychological mechanism underlying the relationship between debt and mental health problems. Few previous studies have investigated debt stress among gamblers. OBJECTIVE: This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the medi

Nursing Implications of Recent Changes in Management Practices for Metastatic Prostate Cancer.

OBJECTIVE: Prostate cancer is one of the most common male cancers in the world and accounts for substantial morbidity, mortality, loss of disability-adjusted life-years, and financial burden to patients and to the community. Metastatic prostate cancer has been managed for over 70 years with androgen deprivation therapy, but further life-prolonging therapies were not available until 2004. Since then, drugs such as docetaxel, abiraterone, enzalutamide, cabazitaxel, radium-223 dichloride, and (not available in Australia) sipuleucel-T have all demonstrated efficacy in prolongation of survival in c

[RSI--repetitive strain injury. A questionable and harmful concept].

The hypothesis that repetitive movements and postures cause musculoskeletal injury is not supported by scientific data. The sensory and pain symptoms are better explained as of psychological and psychosocial nature, such as job dissatisfaction or disajustment, with financial gains objectives. The repetitive strain injury concept is iatrogenic and costly to society, and must be abandoned.

Feasibility of Brief Screening for At-Risk Gambling in Consumer Credit Counseling.

Gambling disorder and problem gambling often lead to major suffering in the form of mental health problems, interpersonal conflict, and financial crises. One potential setting for detecting at-risk gambling is credit counseling as gambling problems may manifest themselves in the form of financial distress and bankruptcy. Research studies have not considered those seeking credit counseling as individuals at risk for gambling problems even though gambling may contribute to financial distress. Therefore, the current study sought to quantify the prevalence of at-risk gambling in credit counseling

Over 25 Years of Hope: Development of Lymphatic Filariasis Patient Support Groups in Haiti.

Support groups can create environments that are conducive to healing and well-being, particularly for persons with stigmatizing chronic diseases. In 1998, the support group concept was adapted in Haiti for persons with disabling lymphedema caused by lymphatic filariasis (LF). The project was developed with the expectation that the support group model conceived in the developed world be interpreted and modified by persons affected with lymphedema in the Haitian setting. Initiated with modest financial support within a research initiative to eliminate LF, a total of 50 "Hope Clubs" were formed f…

Barriers for access and utilization of dementia care services in Europe: a systematic review.

BackgroundDementia is a group of chronic diseases characterised by cognitive impairment that progressively disrupts daily functioning and requires increasing levels of healthcare, social support, and long-term care. Support for people with dementia can be provided by formal support systems although most of the care process relies upon informal care givers. Despite the availability of formal support systems and healthcare workers, the utilization of dementia care services remains suboptimal. Factors such as non-compliance, lack of awareness, and poor care coordination contribute to this issue.
