BACKGROUND: Autoimmune hypophysitis is the consequence of an immune-mediated inflammation of the pituitary gland, which is rare, and most frequently occurs in females during postpartum periods. We report the case of a 62-year-old female who presented for stent-assistant coiling of an incidental 11-mm complex bilobed left superior hypophyseal internal carotid artery aneurysm. A microcatheter was navigated into the aneurysm and trapped by a 37-mm stent. Using three-dimensional and two-dimensional coils, the elongated aneurysm was coiled. The bigger lobe was coiled first followed by the smaller lobe. Minimal residual filling of the smaller lobe will be re-evaluated at 6-month follow up. Eighty-seven parturients were examined to disclose the function of the thyroid during narcotic exposure in labor and in cesarean section in cases of high risk of giving birth to infants with perinatal abnormalities. Neurotropic agents were found to inhibit the fetal hypophyseo-thyroid system in cases with a history of intrauterine hypoxia, thus saving this system from exhaustion. Employment of various types of general anesthesia in cesarean section in this patient population provides an adequate maternal neurovegetative protection from surgical aggression.

The changes in prolactin release induced by acute doses of L-Dopa + benserazide (250 mg) were analysed in Parkinson disease patients undergoing various drug treatments. The results obtained indicate a highly significant increase in prolactinaemia after 60 minutes in a patient undergoing chronic L-Dopa + benserazide therapy, compared to both healthy subjects and patients receiving other drugs.
