CLINICAL FEATURES OF THE COURSE OF HIRSCHSPRING'S DISEASE INCHILDREN OF THE FIRST YEAR.

The purpose of the work - to investigate the peculiarities of the clinical course of Hirschsprung's disease in children of the first year of life and to determine the significance of symptoms in the verification of the disease. From 1980 to 2021, at the pediatric surgery clinic of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets on the basis of the National Children's Specialized Hospital "OKHMATDYT" and in the pediatric surgery clinic of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University on the basis of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, 483 children of the fir

Acquired constricting and restricting lesions of the descending duodenum.

The descending duodenum is a structure with distinct pathologic processes and anatomic relationships that requires a systematic approach to the differential diagnosis. Because of its tubular shape and fixed position in the retroperitoneum, both intrinsic duodenal and juxtaduodenal diseases are capable of producing luminal narrowing and obstruction. Duodenal lesions may be located in the mucosa or submucosa. Extraduodenal lesions may originate in adjacent structures--such as the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, colon, and lymph nodes--or from other retroperitoneal structures. Causes of duodenal ob

Cholangitis and choledocholithiasis after repair of duodenal atresia: a case report.

BACKGROUND: C1q tumor necrosis factor (TNF) related proteins 9 (CTRP9) is a novel adipocytokine that has been shown to have a cardioprotective effect in coronary artery disease (CAD). However, there are conflicting results on circulating levels of CTRP9 in patients with and without CAD. This meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the association between circulating CTRP9 levels and CAD. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this meta-analysis was to re-examine the relationship between circulating CTRP9 levels and CAD. METHODS: We searched PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, CNKI, VIP, Wanf

An uncommon case of associate intrinsic and extrinsic stenosis of the duodenum in newborn.

The incidence of congenital combinations of extrinsic and intrinsic compression of duodenum is uncommon. The authors report a rare case of a neonate with a duodenal stenosis due to the contemporary presence of an annular pancreas and wind sock web. The diagnostic strategies and management will be discussed.

Colonic atresia and Hirschsprung's disease association shows further evidence for migration of enteric neurons.

The seventh case of colonic atresia and Hirschsprung's disease association is presented. It is proposed that if vascular accident occurs before the eighth week of intrauterine life, it does not only result in atresia but also associates with Hirschsprung's disease.

Neonatal gastric volvulus secondary to rectal atresia.

The "upside-down stomach" is a rare form of organo-axial neonatal volvulus, which occurs because of absent or attenuated anatomical anchors and abnormal motility of the stomach. It is considered a surgical emergency that requires immediate correction. We report a previously undescribed etiology of gastric neonatal volvulus caused by an extremely distended transverse colon, secondary to rectal atresia. The etiologic and diagnostic considerations are discussed. Gastropexy in the form of gastrostomy proved to be an effective treatment.

Congenital colonic atresia.

Nineteen cases of congenital colon atresia are presented with two deaths resulting in a mortality rate of 10.5%. The authors conclude that operative management of atresias proximal to the splenic flexure should include resection of the dilated proximal colon with primary ileotransverse colostomy or ileosigmoidostomy. Atresias distal to the splenic flexure should be managed with a colostomy with later establishment of gastrointestinal continuity.

Duodenal patch grafting.

Loss of duodenal tissue around the pancreatic and common bile ducts presents a challenge to abdominal surgeons. Available methods to correct the problem include duodenojejunostomy, diamond duodenoplasty, serosal patching, mucosal pedicle patching from the ileum or jejunum, and gastric island patching. The choice of procedure must be tailored to the nature of the defect, the amount of tissue lost and the amount of peritoneal contamination. We believe that jejunal mucosal pedicle patching is a reasonable choice in most instances.

[Is the Bishop-Koop anastomosis in treatment of neonatal ileus still current?].

Fourty-three cases of ileus in newborns are presented. Twenty-seven newborns received a Bishop-Koop anastomosis. In 19 cases, the Bishop-Koop anastomosis was performed primarily and in 8 cases as a second intervention. We consider the Bishop-Koop anastomosis to be a safer procedure than primary end-to-end or end-to-side anastomosis. Only one anastomotic leak occurred in our patients. We prefer the Bishop-Koop anastomosis not only in cases of meconium ileus, but also in other types of intestinal atresia and stenosis, especially for the management of greatly different intestinal diameters. In ou…

Strictures and other late complications of neonatal necrotising enterocolitis.

Eighty infants have been treated for neonatal necrotising enterocolitis within a period of five years. Twenty-five per cent developed strictures of the small or large intestine. Four cases of atresia including two with multiple cyst formation were seen. Four patients developed severe malabsorption requiring hyperalimentation with slow recovery of small bowel function in two survivors. The radiological features of these complications is illustrated and the role of radiology in the management of these patients is discussed.

Reassessing acquired neonatal intestinal diseases using unsupervised machine learning.

BACKGROUND: Acquired neonatal intestinal diseases have an array of overlapping presentations and are often labeled under the dichotomous cla … ed or exploratory laparotomy during admission were included. Congenital gastroschisis, omphalocele, intestinal atresia, malrotation were excluded. Data was collected via retrospective chart review with subsequent hierarchal, unsupervised clustering analysis. RESULTS: Five clusters of intestinal injury were identified: Cluster 1 deemed the "Low Mortality" cluster, C …

Adolescent with Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome.

The underlying etiologies of paediatric bowel obstruction are wide ranging. It can be divided into proximal and distal bowel obstruction. Amongst the different etiologies of the proximal bowel obstructions at the level of the duodenum, there are a few etiologies including duodenal atresia, internal hernias, intestinal malrotation, annular pancreas etc. Superior mesenteric artery syndrome is amongst one of these differential diagnoses which is more prevalent in the adolescent age group. We describe the imaging features of this entity and its demographics, imaging characteristics, treatment and
