A deficiency in cellular immunity was demonstrated in a patient suffering from polycythaemia rubra vera in the myelofibrosis stage. Intradermal reactions to classical antigens (candidine, trichophytine, streptokinase, streptodornase, tuberculine) were negative, as was the di-nitrofluorobenzene test. However, the T lymphocyte count was normal. There was no disturbance in humoral immunity. Phagocytosis was normal but leucocyte migration, studied in vitro, was nil. The possibility of an intrinsic abnormality in the polynuclear neutrophil is evoked.

A total of 116 cows from 4 dairy herds in California were used to determine the sensitivity and specificity of extracellular antigen of Nocardia astero des for possible detection of bovine mastitis caused by N asteroides and N caviae. To observed whether the specific IgG antibody test using ELISA was useful in diagnosis of presently ill patients of paragonimiasis, a total of 95 sera were tested. The sera were collected from 21 egg positive cases, 8 from positive reactors of intradermal test, 7 from Clonorchis infected, 9 from other parasitic diseases and 50 from apparently non-infected cases. BACKGROUND: A 20-year-old male student developed allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA). Computed tomography (CT) of the thorax done to detect central bronchiectasis (CB) for confirmation of diagnosis revealed, in addition, right hilar lymphadenopathy. Hilar adenopathy is thought to be rare in ABPA and has been documented only once before. A 54-year-old woman patient had symptoms of stomatitis and asthma following the provision of a dental prosthesis in July 1991. We found a positive patch test reaction to palladium only, without any concomitant metallic contact dermatitis; in particular there was no sensitization to nickel. This is a very rare sensitization. After replacement of the dental alloy the clinical symptoms improved.
