Three nephroblastomas, including one bilateral tumour, have been detected in three children belonging to the same family and born from a consanguinous marriage. The clinical and diagnostic particularities compared to non familial "sporadic" nephroblastomas are studied. The pathogenesis with the incidence of chromosomal anomalies, the diagnosis and the frequency of bilateral diseases along with the associated deformities and a non invasive therapeutic attitude are discussed.

A gradual amplitude decrease towards higher frequencies was found in the spectrum (25-400 Hz) of the ECoG of the curarized rabbit. The results obtained in the study of the intensity and character of immunity in persons immunized with commercial leptospirosis vaccine are presented. These results indicate that antibody formation occurs only in 12.5% of the vaccinees; antibodies are not formed to all Leptospira strains contained in the vaccine, and in 6 months all antibodies completely disappear. In persons immunized with a single vaccine dose the agglutinating activity of blood sera was linked only with IgM. Different forms of dysentery, especially those caused by Sh. sonnei and Sh. flexneri, have been found to differ considerably in their cyclic recurrence. The development cycles of the epidemic processes of dysentery have an objective character, occur in the presence of any tendencies in the morbidity rate, and depend on the natural factors. Thus, the cycles of increase and decrease in morbidity are 3, 6, 9, 12 years for dysentery caused by Sh. sonnei and 6, 7, 8 years for dysentery caused by Sh. flexneri.

In nephrectomy specimens from a series of 24 Wilms' tumors three different types of neoplastic lesion were found in the uninvolved kidney parenchyma: nodular renal blastema, Wilms' tumorlet and metanephric hamartomas. We report four patients with paralysis of downward gaze but with intact upward gaze, including one with detailed clinico-pathological studies and another with a focal computerized axial tomographic (CT) scan abnormality confirming the presence of bilateral lesions of the dorsomedial red nucleus, including the fasciculus retroflexus. It is suggested that sudden, permanent selective failure of downward gaze accompanied by transient disturbance of consciousness is an embolic syndrome of the posterior thalamosubthalamic or rubral artery.

Evidence has been presented by others that betaMSH immunoreactivity in human plasma is due to beta and gamma lipotropin rather than betaMSH. We have studied this question in normal subjects utilizing a sensitive human betaMSH radioimmunoassay capable of quantifying betaMSH in unextracted plasma with a sensitivity of 7.5 pg/ml. Ambulatory monitoring and maximal treadmill exercise were compared in 40 normal subjects and 31 patients with mitral prolapse. A variable arrhythmia spectrum was observed in prolapse during monitoring: premature ventricular contractions in 18 (58%), supraventricular arrhythmias in 11 (35%), and bradyarrhythmias in 9 (29%).
