Frey syndrome is manifested clinically by hemifacial flushing and sweating after a gustatory stimulus. Frey syndrome is usually secondary to traumatic injury in the parotid region and is thought to be the result of misdirected re-sprouting of damaged autonomic nerve fibres. In this case report, we highlight the clinical and psychosocial aspects of Frey syndrome from a patient"s perspective, outline the pathophysiology of the condition and current management strategies, and describe the use of botulinum neurotoxin in the treatment of Frey syndrome.

Fibrolipoma is a rare variant of lipoma with a mixture of fibrous connective tissue. Clinically, it presents as an asymptomatic, slowly growing mass with a smooth, firm, or soft consistency. Although fibrolipoma can occur in any part of the body, in the head region it mainly occurs in the oral cavity and sometimes in the lip, parotid gland, nose, and cheek. We present the first case of a 65-year-old man with a submuscular fibrolipoma of the forehead that showed no evidence of recurrence after excision.

OBJECTIVE: We report a case of a parotid-facial caseating granulomatous infection caused by atypical mycobacteria (Mycobacterium avium) in an immuno-competent child. The size and depth of the lesion and its proximity to the facial nerve present a challenge for a purely surgical treatment strategy.
