In previous communications we described an in vitro model system containing highly purified thyroid peroxidase (TPO) for studying the mechanism of inhibition of thyroid hormone biosynthesis by the antithyroid drugs, 6-propylthiouracil (PTU) and 1-methyl-2-mercaptoimidazole (MMI). We showed that inhibition of iodination of thyroglobulin in this system may be reversible or irreversible depending on the relative concentrations of iodide and drug and the TPO concentration. An IgG2a murine monoclonal antibody derived against human eosinophils was shown to immunoprecipitate the 78,000 dalton form of human eosinophil peroxidase (EPO). For the detection of cancerous and precancerous lesions in cervical cytopathology, the feasibility of a concanavalin A-peroxidase labeling procedure was tested and compared with the Papanicolaou method. To this end, the percentage of labeled flattened epithelial cells with a morphologically normal appearance present in cervical cell suspensions was determined. Glycogen content and peroxidase activity in 101 patients with acute, chronic exacerbated cholecystitis and noncomplicated cholelithiasis were investigated. An increase of the indices was established in case of inflammatory diseases of gallbladder and biliary ducts, being parallel to the severity of the pathological process. The values were normalized with the successful treatment. No essential deviations from the normal values were found in the non-complicated cholelithiasis.

Acute myelofibrosis (AM) or malignant myelosclerosis is a myeloprofilerative syndrome in which bone marrow fibrosis is associated with a proliferation of immature myeloid cells. In this study we compared horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-labeled rabbit antihuman immunoglobulin G (IgG) conjugates, prepared by a one-step and a two-step method.
