This paper reports an audit of safeguarding adults' cases arising over two years from the introduction of an adult protection policy in a UK palliative care service serving a diverse area with 48 beds, over 600 home care and 100 day care patients. Twenty cases were identified, involving institutional, physical, verbal, and financial abuse and neglect. Most patients wanted protective work, but some did not want to disturb personal care and relationships in spite of abuse. Protection from abuse increased support for patients and carers. PURPOSE: This study aimed to measure parents' readiness for discharge from a pediatric cardiology/cardiac surgical inpatient unit.
DESIGN AND METHODS: An observational study was conducted at a single tertiary care pediatric cardiac surgical program; parents received teaching from a discharge coordinator, bedside nurse, and, if needed, dietician and pharmacist. OBJECTIVES: To describe mothers' satisfaction with perinatal care received during hospitalization for delivery, and to identify sociodemographic and health-care-related factors associated with satisfaction.
METHOD: A cross-sectional study of 446 mother-newborn pairs from five hospitals in Puttalam district, Sri Lanka, was carried out by stratified randomization. Treatment drop-out is a common problem in the everyday practice of psychotherapy. In the cognitive-behavioral psychology literature, there are scant data on drop-out from therapy and the data available vary widely according to the definition of drop-out and the intensity of treatment.
