Port wine stains are mainly due to an increase in the number or size of dermal capillary vessels. They are a natural disgrace which, in their most common form (i.e. isolated and non-systematized), requires a cosmetic treatment. It is for this purpose that various therapies were formerly prescribed with inconstant results. Since the development of lasers, notably the argon laser and, most recently, the pulsed dye laser, these treatments have become obsolete. BACKGROUND: Radiation port dermatophytosis (RPD) is an uncommon condition in which patients receiving radiation therapy concurrently have tinea corporis that is confined primarily to the irradiated skin.
METHODS: The case of a 33-year-old man is reported who was receiving cobalt-60 radiation therapy for a nasopharyngeal carcinoma. During therapy, a dermatophyte infection developed in the treated field.

Multiple actinic keratoses occurred on skin regions that were not exposed to the sun in one (0.15%) of 672 psoriasis patients receiving long term PUVA treatment after receiving a cumulative UVA dose of 883 J/cm2. Apart from skin type II, no risk factors were found. Besides clinical signs of chronic, light-induced skin damage, there were minor indications of epidermal dystrophy. Acantholysis was abnormally common in the regions affected by actinic keratosis.

Only transposition flaps will survive because of their own vascularisation. Musculocutaneous flaps, the latissimus island flap or the vertical or transverse rectus abdominis-flap, which also can be used for the reconstruction of a bid pendolous breast, are the safest.
