Because of an incomplete tubal abortion, salpingectomy was performed in a patient 12 days after glucose instillation into an ampullary tubal gestation. Serum hCG levels had progressively declined from 1.122 mIU/mL at first intervention to 37 mIU/mL at the second operation. The clearance pattern of maternal serum pregnancy specific beta 1-glycoprotein (SP1) was studied in 16 cases of tubal pregnancy (9 active and 7 regressed) after 12, 24, 48, 72, 96, 120 and 192 h following surgery. The mean values of the hormone in both groups showed a statistically highly significant difference in all measurements before and after treatment (P less than 0.001), but they followed the same exponential regression pattern. The half-life of SP1 in active tubal pregnancies after salpingectomy was 36.2 h and in regressed tubal pregnancies after salpingostomy was 37.5 h.

This is a case report of a 33 year-old-woman who underwent in vitro fertilization, because of primary infertility caused by fallopian tube factor. The patient underwent three trials of frozen embryo transfers (ET-CRYO). On the 26th day after the third probe of ET-CRYO she suffered from pelvic pain and vaginal bleeding. Transvaginal ultrasonographic scan revealed bilateral tubal ectopic pregnancy without fluid in the Douglas pouch and no gestational sac in the uterus. Laparoscopic bilateral salpingectomy was performed on the next day after admission. The postoperative course was uneventful.

BACKGROUND: Broad ligament pregnancy is an uncommon form of ectopic pregnancy.
CASE: A 34-year-old, 11-week-pregnant woman, gravida 2, para 0, presented with left lower abdominal pain. She had undergone a right salpingectomy due to tubal pregnancy six years previously. She had a left broad ligament twin pregnancy, and excision of the pregnancy and left tube were performed. She was well at discharge and the six-week follow-up.
CONCLUSION: This is the first case report of a broad ligament twin pregnancy after spontaneous conception.
