Drop metastasis from the extradural to the intradural space in spinal Ewing's sarcoma - a novel case report.

Spinal Ewing's Sarcoma is a rare tumour predominantly affecting children and adolescents. We describe the case of an 18-year-old male patient who first presented with a primary extradural cervical Ewing's sarcoma tumour, and 5 years later had a recurrence with thoracolumbar and lumbosacral intradural extramedullary Ewing's sarcoma tumours. Both presentations were successfully treated by surgical resection and adjuvant chemo- and radiotherapy, and he remains disease-free at 12 months follow-up. This is the first reported case of seeding of tumour from an extradural primary Ewing's sarcoma to in

Practical Approach in Management of Extraosseous Ewing's Sarcoma of Head and Neck: A Case Series and Review of literature.

Extraosseous Ewing's Sarcoma (EES) is a high grade rare malignancy from Ewing's family tumors (EFTs) occurring in soft tissues. Diagnosis of EES relies on a constellation of features, including round cell morphology, characteristic immunohistochemistry (such as CD99, FLI-1 and NKX2.2 positivity), and pathognomic molecular abnormalities of t(11;22)(q24;q12). Multimodality treatment has improved the prognosis and clinical outcome in EFTs. Due to its rarity, the current recommendation to treat EES is based on Skeletal Ewing's Sarcoma (SES) guidelines. However, achieving clear surgical margins in

Dilemma in diagnosis and management of rare primary pleural Ewing's sarcoma with synchronous limited metastatic disease.

We present a case of a 34-year-old woman who presented with complaints of fever, cough and dyspnoea of 2 months' duration. On evaluation, she was diagnosed with a rare entity primary pleural Ewing's sarcoma with synchronous metastases to mediastinal, supraclavicular nodes and single vertebra. Due to the rarity of this entity and lack of treatment guidelines on extraosseous Ewing's sarcoma, the patient was managed with a combination of multiagent chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy as per standard guidelines for skeletal Ewing's sarcoma. We present this case to discuss differential diagnoses

Rare adrenal gland incidentaloma: an unusual Ewing's sarcoma family of tumor presentation and literature review.

BACKGROUND: Members of the Ewing's sarcoma family of tumor (ESFT) are malignant neoplasms and rarely observed in the adrenal gland. CASE PRESENTATION: We report an extremely exceptional case of ESFT rising from the adrenal gland in a 57-year-old Chinese man. The patient was hospitalized with abdominal swelling for 2 months. Computed tomography (CT) scan revealed a nearly-circular mass measuring about 8.1 × 10.6 cm in the right adrenal region. The patient underwent right adrenal resection. Histopathologic examination found the tumor was composed of small round blue cells forming typical Homer-

Unusual presentation of metastatic Ewing sarcoma to the ovary in a 13 year-old: a case report and review.

Ewing sarcoma (ES) is the second most common bone malignancy in children and adolescents. Together with primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNET), ES comprises the PNET/ES family. Metastasis is present in about 25% of patients at diagnosis and is most commonly found in the lung and bones. Primary PNET/ES of the ovary has been reported in many adult cases; however, secondary occurrences are rare. Here we present the clinical course of a 13-year-old patient with metastatic ES to the ovary without involvement of any other sites. To our knowledge, this is the second reported pediatric case of metast

Very Late Local Relapse of Ewing's Sarcoma of the Head and Neck treated with Aggressive Multimodal Therapy.

Ewing's sarcoma's relapse rarely occurs more than two years after the initial diagnosis. We report the case of a 26-year-old man with a history of Ewing's sarcoma of the left maxillary sinus at the age of 10 who presented with a very late local relapse, 16 years after the first occurrence of disease. Ultimate control was achieved after multimodal therapy including surgery, high-dose chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. This report indicates that local relapses of Ewing's sarcoma can be treated with curative intent in selected cases.

Extraskeletal Ewing's sarcoma/primitive neuroectodermal tumor of the posterior mediastinum with t(11;22)(q24;q12).

Ewing's sarcoma/primitive neuroectodermal tumor family of tumors is part of a rare group of malignant neoplasms with small round-cell morphology. We describe a 24-year-old woman who presented with non-specific back pain. A chest radiograph and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated an extraosseous, dumbbell-shaped mass of the posterior mediastinum with extension into the spinal canal. The patient underwent a left posterolateral thoracotomy and a T3-5 laminectomy with subsequent multi-agent chemotherapy. Histopathologic examination of the tumor demonstrated sheets of primitive small round mali

Ewing's sarcoma of soft tissues in childhood: a report from the Intergroup Rhabdomyosarcoma Study, 1972 to 1991.

PURPOSE: One hundred thirty of 2,792 patients (5%) registered on three Intergroup Rhabdomyosarcoma Study clinical trials (IRS-I, -II, and -III) from 1972 to 1991 had an extraosseous Ewing's sarcoma (EOE). We report here the results of multimodality therapy for this tumor. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The 130 patients were less than 21 years of age; 70 (54%) were males. Primary tumor sites were on the trunk in 41 patients, an extremity in 34, the head/neck in 23, the retroperitoneum/pelvis in 21, and other sites in 11. One hundred fourteen patients had no metastases at diagnosis. In 21 patients, the

Increased risk of neuroectodermal tumors and stomach cancer in relatives of patients with Ewing's sarcoma family of tumors.

BACKGROUND: Previous studies of the genetic epidemiology of Ewing's sarcoma have shown neither an increased incidence nor a distinct pattern of cancers in family members of Ewing's sarcoma patients. PURPOSE: Because of a new biologic and cytogenetic classification of Ewing's sarcoma family of tumors, we wanted to reinvestigate the incidence and distribution of cancers in relatives of probands with Ewing's sarcoma family of tumors. METHODS: Patients treated at the Pediatric Branch and the Radiation Oncology Branch of the National Cancer Institute between 1965 and December 1992, or their next

beta-Adrenergic receptors in pediatric tumors: uncoupled beta 1-adrenergic receptor in Ewing's sarcoma.

beta-Adrenergic receptors were demonstrated in membrane preparations from 6 human Ewing's sarcomas and compared to those from 46 other pediatric cancers with the use of the beta-adrenergic antagonist (-)-(3H)dihydroalprenolol [(-)[3H]DHA]. In contrast to the high numbers of receptor sites found in Ewing's sarcomas (55-640 fmol x mg-1 protein; dissociation constant Kd, 1-2 nM), other childhood cancers (neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, brain tumors, lymphoma, osteosarcoma, hepatoblastoma, yolk sac, and Wilms' tumor) contained in general fewer beta-adrenergic receptor sites. All-site radiotherapy for metastatic ewing's sarcoma: a short-term analysis of feasibility, response, and safety.

BACKGROUND: Metastatic Ewing sarcoma (EWS) has a poor prognosis. While metastasis-directed therapy benefits oligometastatic disease, the role of comprehensive all-site radiotherapy in widespread disease remains underexplored. This study aimed to preliminarily assess its short-term efficacy and safety. METHODS: This retrospective analysis included 21 consecutive metastatic EWS patients treated with helical tomotherapy (Aug 2024-Jun 2025). All known metastases and unresected primary tumors received radiotherapy (45-55 Gy in 20 fractions for most sites; 12-45 Gy for lung/pleural metastases). Con

Systematic review of scapular Ewing's sarcoma and a rare case of massive pleural effusion as primary manifestation.

BACKGROUND: Ewing Sarcoma (ES) ranks second among mesenchymal malignancies in children and young adults. Scapular Ewing sarcoma (SES) represents <4% of ES cases with limited literature. We report a case of SES with uncommon respiratory symptoms in a 37-year-old male and conduct a systematic review to improve comprehension of SES demographics, clinical attributes, and management. LITERATURE REVIEW: A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar including SES case reports and series from 1983 to 2024. Using Covidence, references were screened. Diagnostic Value of Ultrasound in Primary Cervical Ewing's Sarcoma: Two Case Reports and Literature Review.

Primary cervical Ewing's sarcoma (ES) is a rare malignant small round cell tumor that develops outside the bone, with a generally poor prognosis. Clinical symptoms are nonspecific, posing challenges for early diagnosis. In this report, we present two cases of middle-aged women presenting with abnormal vaginal bleeding. Neither human papillomavirus typing nor blood tests showed specific abnormalities. Ultrasound examination identified uneven hypoechoic lesions with well-defined borders in the cervix, and color Doppler imaging showed punctate linear blood flow signals within the lesions. Histopa

Extraosseous Ewing's sarcoma/peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumour of the kidney: a case report and literature review.

BACKGROUND: Extraosseous Ewing's sarcoma/peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumours(EWS/pPNETs) of the kidney are rare. Signs and symptoms are atypical in EWS patients. Presenting symptoms include haematuria, abdominal pain, or a palpable mass. A comprehensive review of the literature shows that it is difficult to make an accurate diagnosis based on physical examination alone. The imaging findings of EWS/pPNETs are nonspecific. We used contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) to diagnose an EWS/pPNET in our patient, which had never been reported previously to our knowledge. CASE PRESENTATION: Th

Primary pulmonary Ewing's sarcoma: rare cause of massive hemothorax in a young girl-case report.

BACKGROUND: Ewing's sarcoma is a common malignant bone tumor in children and young adults. Rarely, extra-skeletal soft tissues and visceral organs can also be the site of origin of Ewing's sarcoma. Primary pulmonary Ewing's sarcoma is an extremely rare malignancy. CASE PRESENTATION: We report an unusual case of primary pulmonary Ewing's sarcoma in a 15-year-old girl who initially presented with massive hemothorax. By histopathology evaluation of surgical biopsy specimens, the diagnosis of extraosseous Ewing's sarcoma was confirmed by both light microscopy and immunohistochemistry. Emergency,

Cell-type dependent enhancer binding of the EWS/ATF1 fusion gene in clear cell sarcomas.

Clear cell sarcoma (CCS) is a rare soft tissue sarcoma caused by the EWS/ATF1 fusion gene. Here, we established induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from EWS/ATF1-controllable murine CCS cells harboring sarcoma-associated genetic abnormalities. Sarcoma-iPSC mice develop secondary sarcomas immediately after EWS/ATF1 induction, but only in soft tissue. EWS/ATF1 expression induces oncogene-induced senescence in most cell types in sarcoma-iPSC mice but prevents it in sarcoma cells. We identify Tppp3-expressing cells in peripheral nerves as a cell-of-origin for these sarcomas. We show cell type-s
