OBJECTIVES: The goal of this work was to explore the dynamic concentration profiles of 42 amino acids and the significance of these profiles in relation to sepsis, with the aim of providing guidance for clinical therapies.

Study of a 4 1/2-year-old boy with the unusual combination of acute infantile hemiplegia, ectopia lentis and the absence of homocystinuria showed large amounts of abnormal sulfur-containing metabolites (sulfite, thiosulfate and S-sulfocysteine) in the urine. Lepidium apetalum is valued for its food and medicinal uses; however, research on its chemistry and bioactivities remains limited. Sulfur assimilation is an essential metabolic pathway that regulates sulfation, amino acid metabolism, nucleotide hydrolysis, and organismal homeostasis. We recently reported that mice lacking bisphosphate 3'-nucleotidase (BPNT1), a key regulator of sulfur assimilation, develop iron-deficiency anemia (IDA) and anasarca. A case-control study of larynx cancer was conducted within a cohort of automobile workers exposed to metal working fluids, commonly referred to as machining fluids (MF). Formamide (FA), N-methylformamide (NMF), and dimethylformamide (DMF), were evaluated as solvents for coulometric Karl Fischer (KF) reagents in combination with several amine bases.
