The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between sleep apnoea, measures of obesity and blood pressure. The study was cross-sectional in design, involving 1464 consecutive men undergoing sleep studies at two non-hospital sleep laboratories. The literature of serendipitous findings on whole-body FDG PET continues to grow. Whole-body FDG PET imaging of a 24-year-old man with treated synovial sarcoma of the right upper extremity showed an abnormal focus of activity over the right chest in addition to abnormal uptake in the lungs. On reexamination, he was found to have a hitherto unknown 2.5-cm mobile nodule in the right breast. Histopathology confirmed it to be metastasis from the synovial sarcoma. Extramammary malignancies metastasizing to the breast constitute approximately 2% of all breast tumors.

Previous investigations of adults with the Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) are few and have demonstrated severe obesity with increased morbidity and mortality in cardiovascular disease. BACKGROUND/AIMS: Pamidronate is widely used to treat pediatric patients with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI). We aimed at delineating the effects of monthly pamidronate therapy on the growth of different body segments in prepubertal OI patients.
METHODS: The study included 14 prepubertal patients (12 boys, 2 girls) with mild forms of OI (type I and IV). The mean age at treatment start was 7:8 years:months (3:7-11:0). Pamidronate was given as monthly intravenous infusions. The patients were measured 1 year before, at treatment start and 1 and 2 years after treatment start.

To determine which factors influenced the pharmacodynamics of atracurium in clinical practice, the steady-state plasma concentration of atracurium for 90% paralysis (Cpss90) was measured in 100 adult patients. This report presents the findings of an epidemiological study of laryngeal cancer in Japan, based on 6,360 cases treated and registered during the 10-year period from 1960 through 1969.
