We develop a statistical approach for the study of S phase duration in experiments using sequential pulses of two thymidine analogues. Cell entrance into S phase is assumed to follow a possibly nonhomogeneous Poisson process, and the duration in S phase independently follows an unspecified distribution, thus allowing the possibility of variable S phase duration times for cells. Choroid plexus carcinoma was diagnosed in a 5-year-old female mixed breed dog which was euthanized due to progressive neurologic disease. Diagnosis of the tumour was based on gross and light microscopic findings following a complete necropsy. The chemical staining patterns in the case are compared with human choroid plexus tumours. The criteria for the distinction between benign and malignant variants of choroid plexus tumours are discussed.

A case of schwannoma occurring in the right lateral ventricle of an 8-year-old boy is described. The child made an excellent recovery. Three years later there is no evidence of recurrence. The precise origin of such an unusual tumor is uncertain, but it probably arises from the sympathetic nerve supply to the choroid plexus.

Only a few verified cases of malignant papilloma of the choroid plexus have been described in the literature. The biological nature and prognosis of those tumours are not well known. Choroid plexus papillomas are rarely located in the third ventricle. The case of a 49-year-old man who had a total microsurgical excision of such a lesion is reported. The neuroradiological features and the surgical results are discussed, with a review of 25 other cases reported in the literature. Microsurgical technique made possible a good exposure and successful complete removal of the tumor.

A healthy 6-year-old black girl presented with an asymptomatic lesion in the posterior pole of the left eye. The lesion had the classic clinical features on ophthalmoscopy and ultrasonography of a choroidal osteoma. Involvement of the choroid plexus by lymphoma (Hodgkin) is a hitherto undescribed complication. We report herein the case of a 49-year-old man who developed, shortly before death, neurologic symptoms seemingly related to extensive involvement of choroid plexus and surrounding ventricular structures by lymphoma (Hodgkin's). There was also multifocal involvement of cranial nerves and spinal canal contents.

Three patients with a choroidal melanoma, treated with HDR (High Dose Rate) Strontium-90 brachytherapy, underwent an enucleation. Radiation effect was only visible at the irradiation zone with a brisk transition to normal tissue. Tumour was replaced by necrotic and scar tissue. The underlying sclera had a markedly reduced number of fibrocytes, but no structural alteration of the collagen stroma.

PURPOSE: To evaluate if color Doppler can detect internal blood flow in circumscribed choroidal hemangioma.
METHODS: This cross-sectional study examined seven eyes of seven participants with circumscribed choroidal hemangiomas, with or without prior treatment. B-scan ultrasound and color Doppler were used to assess the dimensions, topographical distribution, and internal blood flow of the affected eyes.
RESULTS: The sample included seven patients (five female) with a median age of 61 (62.29 ± 13.83) years. There were seven eyes with circumscribed choroidal hemangiomas in the patient sample.

This report describes the de novo appearance of a choroidal osteoma occurring 8 years after laser photocoagulation for previous branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). A 62-year-old man presented with an asymptomatic yellowish orange lesion in the macula on fundus examination of his left eye during a regular follow-up visit for bilateral BRVO associated with macular edema that had previously been treated with laser photocoagulation. The lesion was observed for 1.5 years until a decrease in vision occurred. Fundus photography revealed a yellow-to-orange, well-defined lesion in the macular region.
