A 70-year-old man was given a diagnosis of sigmoidovesical fistula due to diverticulitis through the combination of examinations including cystoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, barium enema, urogram, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Among these, MRI was the most useful for the direct detection of the fistula in T1 weighted images and the confirmation of the lesion in T2 weighted images.

Primary malignant lymphoma of the bladder is unusual. We report a case of primary malignant lymphoma arising in the urinary bladder. A 54-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with the chief complaint of dysuria, on May 26, 1995. Examination of IVP, ultrasonography, cystoscopy suggested a non-papillary bladder tumour. Diagnosis was established by histological examination.

We report the unusual presentation of an ectopic ureter in a man with a solitary kidney. The presenting symptom was the inability to place a Foley catheter into the bladder because of preferential passage into the ectopic ureteral opening in the prostatic urethra. Flexible cystoscopy was helpful in diagnosis and management of the problem. The differential diagnosis of a difficult urethral catheterization should include occult congenital genitourinary anomalies.

Colovesical fistulas were identified in 42 patients. Diverticulitis was the underlying cause in 40 per cent of the patients. Carcinoma of the colon or cervix caused 33 per cent of the fistulas. Cystoscopy was the most effective procedure in diagnosing the fistulas. Surgical therapy had to be individualized to the patient's condition. Fistulas secondary to radiation were associated with a high complication rate.

Radiation-induced hemorrhagic cystitis (HC) is a complication of pelvic radiotherapy, mainly for prostate and uterine cancers. In the acute phase, patients feel urinary urgency and bladder pain. Epidermolysis bullosa is a rare inherited muco-cutaneous disorder that sometimes presentes with genitourinary involvement. Herein we report the case of an 11-year-old girl with a history of junctional epidermolysis bullosa who was admitted with urological symptoms. A 62-year-old woman presented 3 weeks following vaginal hysterectomy and anterior repair with exquisite urethral pain, incontinence and complete urethral prolapse. Following examination under anaesthesia and cystoscopy, anterior vaginal repair sutures were removed with spontaneous reduction of the prolapse. At a 5-week follow-up appointment, the patient was asymptomatic with resolution of the urethral prolapse.

A 21-year-old woman, gravida 3, para 2, presented in the third trimester of pregnancy with complaints of painless vaginal bleeding after urination. A case history is presented of a man who developed angioedema of his head and neck during anaesthesia for his 11th cystoscopy within four years. Thiopentone was always used to induce his general anaesthesia. Foreign bodies of the urinary bladder may occur by self insertion or migration from the neighbouring organs. All the foreign bodies when left for long act as a nidus for calculus formation. We present a technique of transurethral transvesical endoscopic management of an intraperitoneal retrovesical hydatid cyst. Cystoscopy is performed using a 20.8F nephroscope. The cyst is punctured using an 18-gauge, 36-cm needle through the nephroscope operating channel. Saline (20%) is used as scolicidal agent. After balloon tract dilation, the nephroscope is introduced into the cyst, and the hydatid material is evacuated.
