OBJECTIVES: This study compared long-term outcomes of surgical management for Ebstein's anomaly before and after the introduction of an individualized surgical approach at our centre, including Cone repair.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective, single-centre analysis of patients who underwent surgery for Ebstein's anomaly between 1988 and 2022. Since 2012, early intervention to preserve right ventricular (RV) function before severe deterioration was prioritized. Survival was characterized using Kaplan-Meier estimates, and restricted mean survival time (RMST) was computed up to a specified ti

BACKGROUND: Ebstein's anomaly (EA) exhibits significant anatomical and clinical heterogeneity, warranting a systematic approach to risk stratification. While the Carpentier classification (CC) is commonly employed for qualitative disease assessment, there is increasing interest in quantitative imaging parameters to personalise monitoring strategies and therapeutic interventions. We sought to evaluate the association between cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) parameters, CC and symptoms of heart failure (HF). Also, we investigated whether CMR-derived markers may predict the need for bidire

OBJECTIVE: In this study, we aimed to screen the risk factors for delayed extubation after surgery for Ebstein's anomaly (EA), determine the diagnostic cut-off values, and develop a prediction equation to accurately encourage rapid recovery after surgery.
METHODS: The perioperative data of 76 pediatric patients undergoing EA surgery in the Surgical Department of the Pediatric Heart Center of Anzhen Hospital from September 2013 to September 2021 were retrospectively analyzed.
RESULTS: Among these cases, 37 (48.6%) were male, with an average age of 4.67 (2, 11.19) years and an average weight o

Ebstein's anomaly is a rare congenital cardiac condition with limited data regarding the impact of this condition in pregnancy. The objective of this study was to describe the cardiac and perinatal outcomes associated with Ebstein's anomaly in pregnancy. We performed a retrospective cohort of pregnancies from Epic Cosmos, an integrated dataset from over 1,500 hospitals across the United States. Charts were queried for the coexistence of pregnancy and Ebstein's anomaly diagnosis code between July 5, 2021, and March 5, 2025. They were then compared to patients with other congenital heart disease

Ebstein's anomaly is a rare congenital displacement of the tricuspid valve resulting in atrialization of the right ventricle. About half of the patients with Ebstein's anomaly also have atrial septal defects, which may lead to chronic shunting and development of Eisenmenger syndrome. We describe a case of a sexagenarian male patient with a history of Ebstein's anomaly complicated with Eisenmenger syndrome undergoing robotic laparoscopic adrenalectomy who presented hemodynamic instability, hypoxemia, and likely right-to-left shunting intraoperatively, as well as the actions taken to correct it

Ebstein's anomaly is a rare congenital heart disease characterized by tricuspid valve downward displacement and is associated with additional cardiac phenotypes such as left ventricle non-compaction. The genetic basis of Ebstein's anomaly has yet to be fully elucidated, although several genes (e.g., NKX2-5, MYH7, TPM1, and FLNA) may contribute to Ebstein's anomaly. Here, in two Ebstein's anomaly families (a three-generation family and a trio), we identified independent heterozygous nonsense variants in laminin subunit 3 α (LAMA3), cosegregated with phenotypes in families with reduced penetranc

BACKGROUND: The mechanisms and prognostic importance of left ventricular (LV) dysfunction in neonatal Ebstein's anomaly (EA) and tricuspid valve dysplasia (TVD) are not well understood. The authors recently demonstrated reduced cardiac output and dyssynchrony to be common in fetal EA/TVD and therefore hypothesized that LV dysfunction may be associated with worse outcomes in neonatal EA/TVD.
METHODS: A multicenter retrospective case-control study was conducted among neonatal patients with EA/TVD (n = 32) and a healthy control cohort (n = 17) encountered from 2004 to 2019. The left ventricle wa

OBJECTIVES: Firstly, to describe the outcome of a series of fetuses with Ebstein's anomaly (EA) and, secondly, to study the utility of different second-trimester echocardiographic parameters to predict fetal and neonatal mortality.
METHODS: 39 fetuses with EA diagnosed between 18 and 28 weeks of gestation were included. Fetal echocardiography included the cardiothoracic ratio (CTR); right atrial (RA) area index; displacement of the tricuspid valve (TV); tricuspid regurgitation; pulmonary artery; and ductus arteriosus flow characteristics. Additionally, 2 novel parameters were obtained: the re

Ebstein's anomaly is a rare form of cyanotic congenital heart disease (CHD) that involves malformation and dysfunction of the tricuspid valve and right ventricle (RV). The severity of the defect impacts clinical presentation, survival, and treatment options. Presentation during the neonatal period with hypoxemia and cyanosis is noted in patients with severe tricuspid valve malformation, a hypoplastic RV, or RV outflow tract obstruction. However, presentation later in infancy is more common when there is a moderate tricuspid valve malformation and no associated RV outflow tract obstruction. Alt

We report the use of an Amplatzer Vascular plug for percutaneous closure of a paravalvular leak after Cone repair in a 5-year-old boy with Ebstein's anomaly. A paravalvular leak of the tricuspid valve developed gradually after Cone repair-surgery. The combination of fluoroscopy, transesophageal and transthoracic imaging during general anesthesia was necessary for correct and safe positioning of the device by percutaneous approach. The results were promising.

OBJECTIVE: In neonates with Ebstein's anomaly and absent right ventricular forward flow, pulmonary valve morphology is normal or abnormal. Although initial postnatal presentations of these 2 conditions are similar, clinical courses and therapeutic strategies for each category differ greatly.
METHODS: Among 29 neonates with Ebstein's anomaly without right ventricular forward flow on initial postnatal echocardiography, 16 had a normal pulmonary valve and 13 had an abnormal pulmonary valve.
RESULTS: During the postnatal follow-up of the normal pulmonary valve group, right ventricular forward fl
