[Spatial Correlation Network Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Carbon Emission in Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration].

Promoting the integrated development of China's urban agglomerations and realizing regional coordinated carbon reduction is an important starting point for the "dual carbon" goal. Taking 26 cities in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration as research objects, this paper discusses the change trend and driving factors of carbon emission spatial correlation network from the dual perspectives of "attribute data" and "relational data" through slope trend analysis, the generalized Divisia index decomposition method (GDIM), gravity model, social network analysis (SNA), QAP method, and exponentia

Examining the Relationship Between Racial, Ethnic, and Economic Residential Segregation and Cigarette Smoking Among a Nationally Representative Sample of Young Adults.

INTRODUCTION: Predominantly Black, Hispanic or Latino, and lower-income communities are overexposed to tobacco. This study investigated the … erexposure. IMPLICATIONS: The study's findings highlight the association between neighborhood socioeconomic factors and cigarette smoking. Racial and ethnic segregation is associated with higher smoking rates. The combined influence of racial, ethnic, and economic factors adds intricacy to the association between segregation and the risk of smoking. This research …

Educational differences in responses to breast cancer symptoms: A qualitative comparative study.

OBJECTIVE: Advanced stage at diagnosis for breast cancer is associated with lower socio-economic status (SES). We explored what factors in the patient interval (time from noticing a bodily change to first consultation with a health care professional) may contribute to this inequality. DESIGN: Qualitative comparative study. METHODS: Semi-structured interviews with a sample of women (≥47 years) from higher (n = 15) and lower (n = 15) educational backgrounds, who had experienced at least one potential breast cancer symptom. Half the participants (n = 15) had sought medical help, half had not (n

Energy and air? The impact of energy efficiency improvement on air quality in China.

The global economic growth is hindered by resources shortage, energy demand, air pollution and climate. Energy efficiency can reduce some pollutants while potentially increase others. This study refers to sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and dust and smoke (DS) as primary pollutants to distinguish it from secondary ones. The influence of energy efficiency, socioeconomic, and natural climatic factors on air quality is analyzed under the theory of STIRPAT. It is highly coupled between energy efficiency and the spatial distribution of air quality. Increased energy efficiency can impro

Factors Associated with HIV Antiretroviral Therapy among Men Who Have Sex with Men in 20 US Cities, 2014.

Reducing HIV among men who have sex with men (MSM) is a national goal, and early diagnosis, timely linkage to HIV medical care, and ongoing care and treatment are critical for improving health outcomes for MSM with HIV and preventing transmission to others. We assessed demographic, social, and economic factors associated with HIV antiretroviral treatment among HIV-infected MSM. Data are from the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance (NHBS) collected in 2014 among MSM. We estimated prevalence ratios and 95% confidence intervals using average marginal predictions from logistic regression. Overall…

Incidence and risk factors for pulmonary tuberculosis among the poor in the northern region of Poland.

SETTING: The falling trends in pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) incidence observed in European countries may be due both to an improving epidemi … sness, with a TB incidence rate in the homeless group of 4290/100,000. According to our data, socio-economic factors correlated much more closely with a final TB diagnosis than subjective disease symptoms. CONCLUSIONS: Efficient TB control requires prevention programmes aimed at systematic monitoring of the homeless. A population with such a high proportion of TB …

The economic burden of intimate partner violence in ecuador: setting the agenda for future research and violence prevention policies.

INTRODUCTION: Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a widespread social structural problem that affects a great proportion of Ecuadorian women. IPV is a sexually, psychologically, or physically coercive act against an adult or adolescent woman by a current or former intimate partner. Not-for-profit groups in Ecuador report that 70% of women experience 1 of the forms of IPV sometime during their lifetime, but population-based surveys suggest that 41% of Ecuadorian women are exposed to emotional violence, 31% physical violence, and 12% sexual violence by their spouse or partner over their lifetime.

The impact of economic crisis on the mental health of children and adolescents: A systematic review.

INTRODUCTION: Economic crises significantly affect mental health across individuals, families, and communities, with children and adolescents being especially vulnerable. Financial stress, parental distress, and family conflict can disrupt development and increase emotional, behavioural, and cognitive difficulties. This review uses Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems theory to examine how economic hardship influences youth mental health through interconnected individual, familial, and societal systems. METHODS: Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic search was conducted on PubMed and Googl

Advancing progress on tobacco control in low-income and middle-income countries through economic analysis.

BACKGROUND: More than 80% of the world's 1.3 billion tobacco users live in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), where progress to address tobacco and its harms has been slow. The perception that tobacco control detracts from economic priorities has impeded progress. The Secretariat of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) is leading the FCTC 2030 project, which includes technical assistance to LMICs to analyse the economic costs of tobacco use and the benefits of tobacco control. METHODS: The Secretariat of the WHO FCTC, United Nations Development Programme and WHO

The investment case as a mechanism for addressing the NCD burden: Evaluating the NCD institutional context in Jamaica, and the return on investment of select interventions.

Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are a broad challenge for decision-makers. NCDs account for seven out of every 10 deaths globally, with 42 percent occurring prematurely in individuals under age 70. Despite their heavy toll, NCDs are underfunded, with only around two percent of global funding dedicated to the disease set. Country governments are responsible for funding targeted actions to reduce the NCD burden, but among other priorities, many have yet to invest in the health-system interventions and policy measures that can reduce the burden. This article examines "investment cases" as a poten

Deprivation, timing of preschool infections and H. pylori seropositivity at age 49-51 years: the Newcastle Thousand Families birth cohort.

BACKGROUND: Helicobacter pylori infection is acquired in early childhood and persists for life (or until eradication treatment is taken). Seropositivity of H. pylori at age 49-51 years was assessed in relation to socio-economic deprivation in early life and the timing of other childhood infections common at that time. METHODS: Prospectively collected socio-economic and morbidity data from the Newcastle Thousand Families study, a birth cohort established in 1947. H. pylori IgG seropositivity was assessed at 49-51 years and examined in relation to both whether the individual had been diagnosed

Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting in the Ambulatory Surgery Center: A Narrative Review.

Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a common complication of ambulatory surgery, leading to numerous deleterious effects such as decreased patient satisfaction, prolonged recovery unit stays, and rarely, more serious complications such as aspiration pneumonia or wound dehiscence. In this paper, we present a narrative review of the literature regarding common risk factors for PONV including patient factors, surgical factors, and anesthetic factors. We then will review anesthetic techniques and antiemetic drugs demonstrated to mitigate the risk of PONV. Finally, we discuss the potential

Behavioral economic measures of alcohol reward value as problem severity indicators in college students.

The aims of the current study were to examine the associations among behavioral economic measures of alcohol value derived from 3 distinct measurement approaches, and to evaluate their respective relations with traditional indicators of alcohol problem severity in college drinkers. Five behavioral economic metrics were derived from hypothetical demand curves that quantify reward value by plotting consumption and expenditures as a function of price, another metric measured proportional behavioral allocation and enjoyment related to alcohol versus other activities, and a final metric measured re
