A 30-year-old woman presented with dilated episcleral vessels in the right eye which were found to be associated with an underlying ciliary body tumour. Contact lens examination, transpupillary transillumination, ultrasonography, computerised tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and fine needle aspiration biopsy produced apparently conflicting and inconclusive results, and the eye was enucleated. Light and electron microscopy showed the lesion to be a neurilemmoma (schwannoma), of which very few cases have been reported. The clinical and pathological features are described and discussed.

The case is described of a unilateral retinoblastoma in a 7-year-old girl which was initially misdiagnosed because of massive anterior segment involvement in the apparent absence of a retinal lesion. Only on histopathological examination of the enucleated eye was the presence of retinal tumour established, this being confined to two minute foci at the extreme periphery.

Retinoblastoma and Peters anomaly are presumably unrelated ocular conditions, although other congenital ocular anomalies have been described in association with retinoblastoma. An 86-year-old patient with corneal gutae and diabetes presented with a Listeria monocytogenes serpent ulcer on her right eye. Smears taken from the ulcer revealed Listeria monocytogenes serotype 4b. Despite specific antibiotic therapy including cephalosporins and systemic administration of amikacin, as well as topical gentamycin drops, the eye had to be enucleated on the 16th day after hospitalization. Massive fibrinous reaction and extreme pain causing the patient to reject alimentation were the clinical signs at this time. The anterior chamber aspirate taken perioperatively was sterile.

A 53-year-old organic chemist developed severe asthma and bronchitis a few weeks after professional exposure to plant dust. 15 days later an acute severe endophthalmitis occurred. Both the systemic and eye conditions were treated with corticosteroids and antibiotics. The atrophic eye which was enucleated 6 months later histologically revealed abscesses in the iris, ciliary body, lens and vitreous harbouring numerous islands of septate, dichotomously branching hyphae, orientated in the same direction and conidiospores, which is considered compatible with an aspergillus species.

The purpose of this work was to determine the main trends in surgical rehabilitation of patients with anophthalmia and define the principles of treating patients with poor ocular prostheses. A total of 3345 interventions on the orbital cavity and eye appendages were carried out at plastic surgery and ocular prosthesis department in 1991-2000. Of these, 1535 patients (45.8%) were with anophthalmia. PURPOSE: To evaluate the complications of anophthalmic socket in retinoblastoma patients at a tertiary centre in Malaysia.
DESIGN: Retrospective study.
METHODS: Patients who underwent enucleation for retinoblastoma were reviewed from 2004-2020. Details were recorded, including demographics, diagnosis, surgical techniques, implant types, additional therapies, and complications.

Argon laser lesions were induced in the structures of the anterior chamber angle of rabbits, cats and monkeys and in a pre-enucleated infnat's eye. Histopathological changes produced by this mode of treatment at different follow-up periods were analysed. A 29-year-old woman had a pigmented ciliary body mass that extended through the iris into the anterior chamber. On the basis of clinical findings and ancillary diagnostic studies, the clinical diagnosis was malignant melanoma of the ciliary body.
