Objective: To explore the advantages and clinical efficacy of free chimeric perforator flap based on the descending branch of circumflex femoral artery applied to tongue reconstruction after advanced tongue cancer resection. Solitary plasmacytoma is the rarest type of plasma cell neoplasm, and the anaplastic form is even more uncommon. Plasmacytoma most commonly originates in bone and predominantly affects older patients. We report a case of successful resuscitation from cardiac arrest due to pulmonary artery rupture utilizing cardiopulmonary bypass. A 79-year-old man was diagnosed with lung cancer; segment resection of the upper lung was scheduled under general anesthesia. We present a case of a 76-year-old man who underwent a corrective femoral osteotomy for a varus deformity and stress fractures. The patient was on androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for prostate cancer and the osteotomy failed to heal. At 13 months, the ADT was stopped and bony union was achieved in 3 months. Orthopaedic surgeons treating fractures in this patient population need to aware of the problems associated with ADT and closely liaise with oncologists and urologists to stop ADT or start alternative treatment until bony union has been achieved.

Schwannomas are benign tumours that arise from the Schwann cells of nerve fibres. They commonly occur in the head and neck, mediastinum and extremities. They are extremely rare in the pelvis. Primary hyperparathyroidism is rarely found in the pediatric population. Delays in diagnosis due to vague symptoms can lead to severe disease manifestations such as osteitis fibrosa cystica. We report a rare case of primary hyperparathyroidism in a 13-year-old girl who presented with a pathological femur fracture and numerous brown tumors.

Distal femoral cortical irregularity (DFCI) is a benign entity presenting with either an irregular appearance or a focal radiolucency within the posterior cortex of the distal femur. Atypical cases should be differentiated from malignant lesions. The typical location of the lesion at the attachment of the head of the medial gastrocnemius muscle can be visualised using different imaging techniques. We report a case of a DFCI in a 13-year old boy. The diagnosis was based on CT-imaging. Two years later, no radiological abnormalities could be observed. A review of the literature is presented.

Surgical management of malignant pheochromocytoma with tumor-induced venous obstruction involving the entrance to the right atrium is challenging. The risk of marked hypotension and hemodynamic instability following clamping of the vena cava is increased as a consequence of the sudden decrease in circulating catecholamines. The use of cardiac bypass, however is burdened with additional operating time and coagulopathy. The present report illustrates that veno-venous bypass is a valuable tool during resection of phenochromocytoma with a large vena caval tumor thrombus.
