Pyogenic granuloma gravidarum is a benign fibrovascular proliferative lesion usually involving the oral gingivae in pregnant patients. While it also occurs, although less frequently, on other oral sites such as lips, tongue and palate, it is relatively unusual to find it in the nasal cavity. Furthermore, lesions normally involute spontaneously after childbirth. For persistent lesions requiring surgical management, imaging has historically been limited to CT. This case is notable not only for its uncommon location but also for its recurrent nature, failure to regress post partum and the use of

INTRODUCTION: While hallux valgus is a common deformity occurring in adults and adolescents, congenital hallux valgus is rare. There is a paucity of information available about the deformity and even less information about its cause. In fact, discrepancies exist within literature as to its etiology. This is a case report of bilateral congenital hallux valgus that appears to have been caused by preaxial polydactyly of the great toe, without a supernumerary digit, which to date has not been reported in literature. Markedly increased intermetatarsal and hallux valgus angles were present in both f

Pyogenic granuloma, also named lobular capillary hemangioma, is a common proliferative vascular lesion known as a benign condition despite its rapid growth. It may appear in any cutaneous or mucosal surface but is usually restricted to the oral cavity. It is characterized by a friable mulberry-like lesion that can be sessile or pedunculated. Bleeding is usually its first clinical manifestation. Locations on respiratory, digestive and genital tracts are uncommon and sporadic. We describe the occurrence of an intravaginal pyogenic granuloma in a peripubertal girl with recurrent vaginal bleeding.

A pyogenic granuloma is a tumorlike proliferation that occurs slightly more often in females, frequently involving the gingiva in the maxillary region. Clinically, it presents as a sessile or pedunculated exophytic mass with a smooth or lobulated surface, which tends to bleed easily. Its color can range from pink to dark red. The most common treatment is surgical excision. This case report presents a pyogenic granuloma that formed around an implant 7 years after its insertion. Pyogenic granulomas associated with dental implants are extremely rare; this is the fourth reported case and the first

OBJECTIVE: The aim was to investigate the relationship between patient clinical background, histological features, and immunoexpression of COX-2 and IL-10 in oral pyogenic granuloma (PG).
DESIGN: Paraffin-embedded samples of oral PG (n=57) were prepared for histological and immunohistochemical assessment. Based on the histological features, the samples were categorised into lobular capillary hemangioma (LCH) and non-LCH subtypes. The epithelial lining, angiogenic index, inflammatory infiltrate density, and interstitial fibrosis, were assessed in haematoxylin-eosin stained sections. In additio

Lobular capillary hemangioma or pyogenic granuloma is a benign lesion with a focal reactive development of fibrovascular tissue and endotelial proliferation. It can appear to any age in different locations and usually has the aspect of a pediculate mass with or without ulceration zones on the area. Its treatment is the simple surgical removal and the control of the traumatic and infectious influential factors. We report a case of pyogenic granuloma on the floor of the mouth making a literature review at respect of that common clinical entity.

BACKGROUND: Pyogenic granuloma, also known as lobular capillary hemangioma, is a benign vascular skin tumor. Intravascular variant of this vascular tumor is rare and such a variant arising in another hemangioma is extremely unusual.
OBJECTIVE: The objective was to present a patient with an intravascular pyogenic granuloma arising in an acquired arteriovenous malformation of the palm.
METHODS: We report a case and review the literature.
RESULT: A 44-year-old woman presented with an easy-bleeding and ulcerative nodule with a hyperkeratotic collaret on her right palm for 3-4 months. The nodule

This is a case report of two patients, aged 26 and 22, who suffered from congenital hemangioma on their faces and pronounced gingival overgrowth localized parallel to extraoral lesions. Prior to surgical intervention the hygienic conditions were improved in several sessions by means of professional preventive treatment and oral hygiene instructions. Histologic examination of both cases revealed a highly vascularized pattern of pyogenic granuloma. One of the cases was associated with a pregnancy. These patients can be classified as Sturge-Weber syndrome. Postsurgical treatment consisted of effi

Pyogenic granuloma may recur when an underlying vascular anomaly remains untreated. We report a case of recurrent pyogenic granuloma of the finger pulp associated with a deep venous malformation successfully treated using sequential dual-wavelength pulsed dye laser (PDL, 585-595 nm) and Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm). Four sessions were performed at three-month intervals (PDL 6 J/cm2; Nd:YAG 50 J/cm2; 10-mm spot; long delay sequential mode) with integrated cooling. Complete clinical resolution was achieved without adverse effects or recurrence after five years. Sequential PDL-Nd:YAG therapy represents

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a benign vascular lesion that manifests as an inflammatory hyperplasia of the skin or mucous membranes. Although termed "pyogenic," PG is not associated with infection; rather, it represents a reactive lesion arising in response to various stimuli such as low-grade local irritation, trauma, or hormonal influences. Clinically, PGs are typically asymptomatic and display variable growth rates. We report the case of a nine-year-old girl referred for evaluation of a gingival mass. Clinical examination revealed a well-defined soft tissue lesion without underlying bone invo

PURPOSE: To study topical timolol (0.5%) as a first-line treatment in ophthalmic pyogenic granuloma (PG) in terms of safety and efficacy.
METHODS: This was a prospective, interventional, single-arm study conducted at a tertiary eye care hospital in central India. Only new cases of PG were counseled to get enrolled in the study. A total of 40 patients were analyzed in the study. Topical timolol eye drop (0.5%) was started in each patient twice daily for 4-6 weeks duration. The patients were divided into five categories according to the percentage reduction in the size of PG as follows: i) 80-1

We report the fourth case reported world-wide of an intravenous pyogenic granuloma (IVPG) originating from a renal vessel. This rare and benign tumor is mostly found in the head and neck region and has been described very rarely in association with the kidneys. By reviewing the characteristics of all published cases we suggest diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for patients with possible IVPG in the renal vessels out of the view of highly experienced surgeons specialized in advanced Inferior Vena Cava-thrombectomy.

The use of laser in oral surgery and periodontology is a matter of debate, mainly because of the lack of consensual therapeutic protocols. The aim of this study was to evaluate the surgical advantages of diode laser versus traditional surgery with a cold blade for the surgical excision of pyogenic granuloma (PG). Twenty-one patients (10 males, 11 females, aged 19-66 years; mean age: 46.5 years), requiring PG excision, were enrolled in the study. Through a randomized clinical trial design, all patients were randomly subjected to PG surgical excision with either diode laser or cold blade. Parame

Pyogenic granuloma is a common benign vascular tumour occurring in all ages. Both skin and mucous membranes can be affected. Of pathogenetic importance are trauma, BRAF mutations and probably herpes virus type 1, Orf virus and/or human papilloma virus type 2. The tumour consists of capillary proliferations, venules and fibromyxoid stroma. The development of a lesion occurs in three stages and bleeding is a common symptom. The tumour can mimic various other vascular lesions, solid tumours, and soft tissue infections. In recent years, targeted tumour therapies have become the most common cause o

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a benign, neoplastic, soft tissue growth of granulation and fibrous tissue that may rarely occur in the mouth of patients after hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT). This case series describes 5 pediatric/adolescent patients who developed oral PG after HCT for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Fanconi anemia, nodular sclerosis Hodgkin's lymphoma, or junctional epidermolysis bullosa. The underlying mechanism for the appearance of oral PG after HCT is unknown, but it is suggested that calcineurin inhibitors used for graft versus host disease (GVHD) may play a role, as all p

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a commonly occurring nonneoplastic inflammatory lesion in the oral cavity. Recent reports have demonstrated a rare association between skin PG and port-wine stain (PWS). Various treatment modalities such as complete excision, curettage, cryotherapy, chemical and electric cauterizations, lasers, and intralesional corticosteroids have been used to treat the lesion. In this case report, we present a novel method for the treatment of recurrent PG in a woman with concurrent presentation of PWS. In this patient, sclerotherapy with sodium tetradecyl sulfate (STS) was used a
