[State of hemostasis in patients with chronic gastritis dependent on the intensity of exacerbation and its morphological form].

The study of systemic hemostasis in 254 patients with chronic gastritis has revealed that the exacerbation of the disease proceeds with marked disorders of blood coagulation typical for the first and second stages of the chronic relapsing thrombohemorrhagic syndrome and thrombophilia. They manifested in intensification of coagulability, lowering of anticoagulative and fibrinolytic potentials of blood, pathological intravascular coagulation. The disorders of hemostasis were strongly expressed during the period of marked exacerbation of the disease and in patients with erosive gastritis.

[Functional status of the intima and thrombocytic hemostasis in patients with symptoms of atherosclerosis of the cerebral and peripheral vessels].

The indices characterizing the state of lipid metabolism, endothelium of arteries and thrombocytic hemostasis were investigated. It was shown that in the zone of atherosclerotic stenosis of the arteries there were marked transformations of the endothelium followed by a decrease of their anticoagulatory properties. The cause and effect relationship between the disturbed thrombocytic hemostasis and lesions of the endothelium in atherosclerosis was confirmed. It is these factors which are the cause of frequent thromboembolic complications, especially in patients with lesions of the cerebral arter…

Sialyltransferase ST3Gal-IV operates as a dominant modifier of hemostasis by concealing asialoglycoprotein receptor ligands.

A number of poorly characterized genetic modifiers contribute to the extensive variability of von Willebrand disease, the most prevalent bleeding disorder in humans. We find that a genetic lesion inactivating the murine ST3Gal-IV sialyltransferase causes a bleeding disorder associated with an autosomal dominant reduction in plasma von Willebrand factor (VWF) and an autosomal recessive thrombocytopenia. Although both ST3Gal-IV and ST6Gal-I sialyltransferases mask galactose linkages implicated as asialoglycoprotein receptor ligands, only ST3Gal-IV deficiency promotes asialoglycoprotein clearance

[Complex compound of heparin and glutamic acid: synthesis and effect on hemostasis parameters in vitro and in vivo].

A complex compound of high-molecular heparin and glutamic acid has been synthesized. This compound has anticoagulant, fibrinolytic, and antithrombotic properties in vitro. Single intravenous or chronic peroral introduction of the complex in normal animals imitates the activation of anticoagulation system. When the anticoagulation system in depressed, the complex restores or even activates the anticoagulant-fibrinolytic background of the serum it. The obtained data are discussed in physiological terms.

[Availability of DDAVP in hemostasis control for the breast tumor resection in a patient with thrombasthenia (type II)].

We reported a 33-year-old woman with thrombasthenia (type II) in whom 1-deamino-8-D-arginine vasopressin (DDAVP) was available for the hemostasis control during breast tumor resection. She has had recurrent nasal bleeding and purpura since 2 years old. On the first admission to our hospital because of hematuria at 18 years old, she was diagnosed as thrombasthenia (type II) from hemostatic studies. At 20 years old, she had a healthy baby by the cesarean section with transfusion of fresh blood and platelet concentrates. On the 5th admission for the breast tumor resection, defect of glycoprotein …

[State of coagulation hemostasis and fibrinolysis processes in dynamics of rapidly progressing forms of botulinal intoxication].

Phase disturbances of coagulation blood potential were revealed in experiments on white rats in dynamics of rapidly progressing form of botulinic intoxication, intoxication being caused by intraperitoneal injection of type C toxin. In preclinical period of intoxication activation of procoagulant and anticoagulant parts of hemostasis system, as well as fibrinolysis system, was noted. Similar shifts were revealed in the developmental period of generalized pareses of skeletal musculature. Only in the terminal stage of intoxication insufficiency of mechanism in formation of prothrombinase activity…

Involvement of hemostasis during an autoimmune glomerulonephritis induced by mercuric chloride in brown Norway rats.

Mercuric chloride (HgCl2) induces in Brown Norway (BN) rats an autoimmune disease characterized by a biphasic glomerulonephritis (GN). A transient nephrotic syndrome occurs during the third and fourth weeks after the first HgCl2 injection. Related to nephrotic syndrome, an hypercoagulable state develops with decreased factor XII and anti-thrombin III (AT III) levels and increased factor V activity and fibrinogen concentration. Moreover, during the same period, most of the rats were found thrombocytopenic. The presence of soluble fibrin monomer complexes and of fibrin degradation products (FDP)

Primary Thromboprophylaxis in Patients with Malignancies: Daily Practice Recommendations by the Hemostasis Working Party of the German Society of Hematology and Medical Oncology (DGHO), the Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis Research (GTH), and the Austrian Society of Hematology and Oncology (ÖGHO).

Patients with cancer, both hematologic and solid malignancies, are at increased risk for thrombosis and thromboembolism. In addition to general risk factors such as immobility and major surgery, shared by non-cancer patients, cancer patients are exposed to specific thrombotic risk factors. These include, among other factors, cancer-induced hypercoagulation, and chemotherapy-mediated endothelial dysfunction as well as tumor-cell-derived microparticles. After an episode of thrombosis in a cancer patient, secondary thromboprophylaxis to prevent recurrent thromboembolism has long been established

Ethanol-assisted assembly of hierarchically structured PVA/TA hydrogels for enhanced hemostasis and antibacterial activity.

Uncontrolled hemorrhage and secondary infections remain major causes of trauma-related mortality, demonstrating the urgent need for multifunctional wound dressings integrating rapid hemostasis, mechanical robustness, and broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. Here, we employ ethanol-assisted solvent-mediated assembly to fabricate hierarchically structured poly(vinyl alcohol)/tannic acid (PVA/TA) hydrogels for hemostatic applications. Ethanol is introduced as a transient solvent-mediated modulator to regulate PVA-TA association during processing, facilitating homogeneous precursor formation and…

Active Blood Cell Capture and Synergistic Coassembly: Self-Gelling Gelatin-Polysaccharide Powders for Rapid Hemostasis.

While effective for irregular wounds, traditional hemostatic powders often lack posthydration cross-linking, yielding fragile barriers susceptible to washout under high-pressure hemorrhage. To address this, a novel self-gelling composite powder (GOQL) was developed by incorporating dopamine-grafted gelatin (GelDA), oxidized sodium alginate (OSA), and lauric acid-grafted quaternized chitosan (QCS-LA). Upon contact with bleeding sites, the porous powder swiftly absorbs interfacial fluids, triggering rapid in situ self-gelation through Schiff-base reactions and physical interactions, followed by

Chitosan-based photothermal synergistic antibacterial composite sponge achieves acute hemostasis and repair of infected wounds.

This study introduces a multifunctional sponge (CS/EGO-EK) designed for rapid hemostasis and treatment of infected wounds. By integrating graphene oxide-grafted engineered kaolin nanotubes (EGO-EK) into a chitosan matrix, the composite demonstrated enhanced pore interconnectivity, mechanical strength, and fluid absorption. The EGO-EK component preserved biocompatibility while promoting platelet activation. In vitro, CS/EGO-EK exhibited approximately 2.1 times higher blood adsorption compared to pure chitosan, with significantly improved platelet adhesion. Antibacterial assays revealed over 99%…

A Dual-Crosslinked Collagen/Hyaluronic Acid/Chitosan Hydrogel for Integrated Hemostasis and Infected Wound Healing.

Conventional wound dressings often fail to integrate rapid hemostasis, antibacterial protection, and a pro-regenerative microenvironment, leading to persistent infection and delayed healing in complex wounds. Herein, we report a multifunctional self-adhesive hydrogel for integrated hemostatic, antibacterial, and regenerative wound management with a synergistic dual-crosslinked network. The hydrogel is composed of methylacrylamide-modified type I collagen (ColMA), o-nitrobenzene-modified hyaluronic acid (HANB), and methylacrylamide-modified chitosan (CSMA), and can rapidly form in situ under UV…

A Snail Galactosed Glycosaminoglycan Inhibits Thrombosis without Affecting Hemostasis via Disrupting FIXa-FVIIIa Complex Generation.

Thrombosis underlies many life-threatening cardio-cerebrovascular diseases. Although existing anticoagulants are effective in treating thrombotic diseases, their application is limited due to the concern of bleeding. New anticoagulants that preserve hemostasis have significant clinical importance. Herein, a novel galactosylated glycosaminoglycan, with unique sequence and sulfate substitutions, was isolated from the snail Camaena cicatricose (CCG). Administration of CCG effectively inhibited thrombus formation in a rat venous thrombosis model, which is positively correlated with its ex vivo ant…

Zeolite-Mimetic Hemostatic Gauze Based on Calcium-Chelated Cellulose Nanofibers for Efficient and Safe Hemostasis.

Commercial inorganic hemostatic agents such as QuikClot Combat Gauze (QCG) and WoundStat demonstrate strong hemostatic efficacy, yet their clinical utility is limited by issues such as exothermic reaction and foreign body response. To address these limitations, a cellulose nanofiber-based hemostat was developed to replicate the coagulation mechanism of zeolite. This was achieved by first covalently grafting carboxymethylated cellulose nanofibers (CMCNFs) onto medical gauze to form a stable, negatively charged nanofibrous network. Subsequently, calcium ion (Ca2+) was incorporated into this netw

Reprogrammed apoptotic platelets drive rapid hemostasis through phosphatidylserine and prostaglandin E2 signaling in preclinical models.

Uncontrolled hemorrhage in trauma, surgical, organ-related, and endoscopic settings, particularly in patients receiving antiplatelet therapy, remains difficult to manage clinically. Here, we introduce a high phosphatidylserine (PS)-exposed procoagulant platelet (hPPL) derivative reprogrammed from isolated platelets via calcium ionophore A23187-induced apoptosis, enriched in surface PS and capable of driving rapid hemostasis. Retaining a protein profile akin to resting platelets, hPPLs robustly promoted platelet activation and aggregation in human- and rat-derived plasma and whole blood in vitr…
