The aim of this study was to correlate lesions of the pituitary gland with hormonal dysregulation. The hormonal status of 63 children was correlated with MRI findings of the pituitary gland. We report detailed data on 10 patients who underwent transsphenoidal microsurgical management of histopathologically confirmed Rathke's cleft cysts. Preoperatively, pituitary dysfunction was present in 90%, headaches in 80%, hyperprolactinemia in 70%, and visual interference in 40%. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging had 90% and 100% sensitivity, respectively, in disclosing the lesion. The mean follow-up duration was 22 months. There was no mortality. We report the case of a patient with Klinefelter's syndrome who developed a prolactin (PRL)-secreting tumor. The patient developed headaches, visual alterations and also symptoms of hypogonadism despite appropriate testosterone (T) replacement therapy. The diagnosis of hyperprolactinemia was then suspected. Two patients with amenorrhea-galactorrhea and Cushing's disease due to pituitary tumor are presented. In both cases, a diagnosis of prolactin-secreting tumor with moderate hyperprolactinemia was established, then Cushing's disease developed years later.
