We report a case of 33-year-old woman for nonfunctioning neuroendocrine pancreatic tumor with synchronous multiple liver metastases. For the primary pancreatic legion, we performed pylorus-preserving pancreatoduodenectomy at first. Three weeks after the surgery, the patient started to undergo intra-arterial chemotherapy with a weekly administration of high-dose 5-FU (1,000 mg/body) for residual liver metastases. With the increasing application of intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC), new side-effects are encountered. We describe two children with proximal femoral osteosarcoma who developed focal myositis of the abdominal wall musculature after IAC. In both cases, myositis presented as abdominal pain and mimicked acute abdomen. US demonstrated asymmetrical thickening of abdominal-wall musculature in the right lower abdomen. This diagnosis should be considered when evaluating the patient with unexplained abdominal pain and a history of IAC.

In this study, we examined the possibility of targeting drug delivery to tumours by dissolving the cytotoxic drug in a lipid fluid that is selectively deposited in tumours. Rabbits bearing VX2 tumour 10-20 mm in diameter in the large bowel received arterial injections of 0.2 ml of mitomycin C (MMC) dissolved in Lipiodol (MMC/Lipiodol), and the antitumour activity and adverse effects were examined. We present pharmacokinetic data of prolonged, intra-arterial indomethacin treatment (i.e. induction plus maintenance dose) for symptomatic patent ductus arteriosus (sPDA) in 26 ventilated premature infants. sPDA was assessed by two-dimensional and pulsed Doppler echocardiography. Permanent ductal closure occurred in 20 (76%) infants. Two cases urachal carcinoma are presented. Both of them had complaints of macrohematuria. One patient received partial cystectomy, and the other patient had radical cystectomy, peritoneo-umbiliectomy, and ureterosigmoidstomy after CDDP and ADM intraarterial injection. The former patient was found to have distant metastasis 7 months after operation. The latter patient has been disease-free for 4 months. The most important point to cure urachal carcinoma is accurate staging and sufficient first treatment, especially pre-operative intraarterial chemotherapy.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: To review our experience of thrombolytic therapy in patients with acute Budd Chiari syndrome (BCS).
METHODS: Records of 10 patients with BCS, treated by thrombolysis over a 12-year period were retrospectively analysed for demographics, clinical presentation/duration, primary disease, thrombolytic regimen, and follow-up. AIM: Local intra-arterial thrombolysis is one of the methods of treatment of acute ischemia of extremities. Its aim is rapid restoration of arterial patency and the reperfusion of the ischemic extremity. It allows the identification of the cause of arterial occlusion. The authors describe a Chinese boy presenting with recurrent retinoblastoma in combination with anterior chamber and vitreous seeding. After two cycles of intra-arterial chemotherapy combined with intracameral and intravitreal melphalan injections, the retinal tumor regressed. The seeds in the anterior chamber and vitreous body were invisible. After 12 months of follow-up, extraocular metastasis was not demonstrated and the retinal tumor was stable.
