BACKGROUND: Large database studies have demonstrated an association between measures of affluence and survival outcomes for patients with osteosarcoma. However, some recent reports have suggested that these disparities may not be as present in the pediatric population. INTRODUCTION: Socioeconomic disadvantage is associated with increased disease severity and worse clinical outcomes among children with acute appendicitis. BACKGROUND: To analyze the incidence of renal trauma using the National Health Insurance Service Database (NHISD).
METHODS: Using the NHISD, representative of all upper urinary tract injuries in Korea, data regarding renal trauma were analyzed. The International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision Clinical Modification codes were used to identify the diagnoses. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine whether extremities undergoing carpal tunnel release (CTR) have an increased rate of trigger finger (TF) compared with conservatively managed carpal tunnel syndrome.
METHODS: Data were collected from the Humana Insurance Database, and subjects were chosen on the basis of a history of CTR with propensity matching performed to develop a nonsurgical cohort. Following propensity matching, 16,768 patients were identified and equally split between surgical and nonsurgical treatments. Demographic information and medical comorbidities were recorded.
