Sarcoma of the kidney is a rare condition. Leiomyosarcoma is the most common of the kidney sarcomas. Renal leiomyosarcoma usually originates from the smooth muscle layers of the kidney, for example, the renal capsule and renal vessels. Renal pelvis neoplasms, however, are primarily transitional cell carcinomas, and renal pelvis leiomyosarcomas are extremely uncommon. Renal pelvis leiomyosarcoma has never been reported in Korea. Primary adrenal leiomyosarcomas (LMS) are extremely rare mesenchymal tumors. To the best of our knowledge only 12 cases (9 cases of conventional and 2 cases of pleomorphic LMS) have been reported in the literature until the present date. BACKGROUND: Extragastrointestinal stromal tumors (eGISTs) are rare mesenchymal-derived tumors arising outside of the GI tract. eGISTs are often histologically confused with leiomyosarcoma. A case of polypoid leiomyosarcoma of the gallbladder arising in association with pre-existing adenomyomatous hyperplasia is described. The patient, a 34-year-old woman with symptoms of cholelithiasis, underwent a cholecystectomy for gallstones. The resected specimen showed, in addition to multiple stones, a large, rubbery, broad-based polypoid mass in the fundus. Primary leiomyosarcoma of extragnathic bone is rare; fewer than 50 cases are found in the literature. We report on two patients, adult men, with tumors located on the long bones (close to the knee joint). Radiographically, the tumors were shown as purely destructive, osteolytic, and infiltrative lesions. Acquired ichthyosis is an important clinical finding; internal malignancy, systemic disease and medication are recognised associations. We present a 70-year-old lady with acquired ichthyosis and leiomyosarcoma, one of the less frequently associated malignancies. An additional unusual finding was generalised thinning and loss of pigment affecting her hair. Scalp biopsy showed histological evidence of ichthyosis. Following resection of the tumour the ichthyosis resolved and there was regrowth of darker hair.

Two cases of spermatic cord leiomyosarcoma are described. Preoperative ultrasound disclosed a paratesticular tumor. Inguinal orchiectomy was performed; there was no adjuvant treatment. Currently there is no evidence of disease after 12 and 24 months of follow-up. The literature on this rare condition is reviewed.

A rare subcutaneous leiomyosarcoma metastatizing to the sphenoid bone and presenting exophthalmos is reported. The authors identified five leiomyosarcomas (LMS) in a review of 13 nonmatrix-producing spindle cell sarcomas of bone. A 44-year-old Japanese woman with leiomyosarcoma of the inferior vena cava is reported. She presented with Budd-Chiari syndrome and died of hepatic failure about 3 months after the onset of symptoms. The tumor arose from the middle segment of the inferior vena cava, occluded the inferior vena cava and projected into the right atrium. A total of 28 cases of Budd-Chiari syndrome due to primary leiomyosarcoma of the inferior vena cava are reviewed.
