Off-hours Surgery and Mortality in Patients With Type A Aortic Dissection Repair: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The impact of off-hours admission (such as weekends, nighttime, and non-working hours) vs. regular hours (weekdays and daytime working hours) on the mortality risk of patients undergoing surgery for type A aortic dissection (TAAD) repair is still uncertain. To address this uncertainty, we undertook a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis. We aimed to assess the potential link between off-hours admission and the risk of mortality in patients undergoing TAAD repair surgery. METHODS: We conducted a thorough search of the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library

Thoracostomy tube withdrawal during latter phases of expiration or inspiration: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

PURPOSE: In patients with thoracic injuries, tube thoracostomy is routinely employed. There is disagreement over which manner of tube withdrawal is best, the latter phases of expiration or inspiration. Considering several earlier investigations' inconsistent findings, their comparative effectiveness is still up for debate. In light of this, we carried out a systematic analysis of studies contrasting the withdrawal of thoracostomy tubes during the latter stages of expiration versus inspiration for traumatic chest injuries. Analyzed outcomes are recurrent pneumothoraces, reinsertion of the thora

The Analysis of Multiple Outcomes between General and Regional Anesthesia in Hip Fracture Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.

Surgical interventions in hip fracture have been associated with multiple adverse events, including perioperative hypotension and mortality, making the choice of the anesthetic method for this procedure crucial. There is still no consensus on whether regional (RA) or general (GA) anesthesia should be used to maintain hemodynamic stability and more favorable outcomes. Therefore, this meta-analysis examines the differences between RA and GA groups in the incidence of mortality, intraoperative hypotension, and other intra- and postoperative complications. The comparison is essential given the ris

The effect of perioperative tranexamic acid (TXA) in patients with calcaneal fractures: a meta-analysis and systematic review of randomized controlled trials.

BACKGROUND: Calcaneal fractures are a common orthopedic disease, account for approximately 2% of all bone fractures, and represent 60% of fractures of tarsal bones. Tranexamic acid (TXA) is a synthetic antifibrinolytic drug that competitively blocks the lysine-binding sites of plasminogen, plasmin, and tissue plasminogen activator, delaying fibrinolysis and blood clot degradation. However, the effect of TXA on patients with calcaneal surgery remains controversial. Our objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of TXA in calcaneal fractures surgeries. METHODS: The electronic literature databa
