A typical clinical and histologic case of Queyrat's erythroplasia of the glans penis is presented. For several years the patient had been treated for balanitis and inflammation of the glans. A few months before the patient died, the correct diagnosis was established. Shortly after, metastases to the inguinal lymph nodes were found and treated with X-rays. At autopsy, metastases to other organs were revealed. Metastatic intracardiac hepatoblastoma is an extremely rare entity. Metastasis pathways include lymphatic, hematogenous routes, direct, or transvenous spread. The multimodality imaging has enabled the identification of the etiology of intracardiac mass in many cases. The significant characteristics of indicating malignant cardiac tumors include irregular borders, vascular invasion, and rapid growth on echocardiography. BACKGROUND/AIM: Examine features of blood and lymphatic vessels in ovarian tumors and their significance to prognosis of ovarian cancer.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 139 women with epithelial ovarian tumors were included: 86 malignant, 17 borderline and 36 benign. Density, percentage, mean size and number of blood microvessels in tumors were measured by immunohistochemistry with antibodies against CD34 and CD105. PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Lymphatic mapping and sentinel lymph node biopsy have been established as definitive procedures for the staging of cutaneous melanoma. Large-scale studies that have been recently conducted and that are ongoing suggest a therapeutic role for lymphatic mapping/sentinel node biopsy in the management and prognosis of melanoma patients with early lymph node metastases.

BACKGROUND: Lymphatic mapping and sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy have the potential to become the standard of care for nodal staging in breast cancer patients, but their widespread utility outside of university-based centers has not been determined. This study describes the final results from a national multi-institutional trial designed to determine the role of preoperative lymphoscintigraphy in breast lymphatic mapping, the rate of success for finding an SLN, and the rate of skip metastasis for patients with invasive breast cancer across all practice scenarios.
