Extramammary Paget disease (EMPD) is a heterogenous entity representing either an intraepidermal adenocarcinoma in situ with apocrine differentiation or an expression of underlying malignancy of the skin or of the intestinal or genitourinary tract. The coexistence of EMPD with a benign underlying hidradenoma papilliferumn (HP) is, however, exceptional. We present the case of a 79-year-old woman with diffuse and patchy gray-white lesions involving her left vulva as well as an underlying 0.7-cm asymptomatic firm nodule. Histologically, the epidermis and dermis showed features characteristic of E

We report a case of simultaneous invasive transitional cell carcinoma in a ureteral stump and superficial bladder tumor occurring 23 years after ipsilateral radical nephrectomy for adenocarcinoma of the kidney. We review the literature on similar cases and discuss potential etiologies of tumor formation in the ureteral stump.

Periampullary neoplasms are a heterogeneous group of tumors arising within 2 cm of the ampulla of Vater. Neuroendocrine tumors can originate throughout the entire body, from neuroendocrine cells. These neoplasms exhibit deep differences, according to their origin and biological behavior. We describe a case of a 79-year-old man who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy for adenocarcinoma of the ampulla of Vater after proper staging. At gross histology, an incidental pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor was also documented. Despite two synchronous neoplasms, the patient survived 34 months with no evidenc

Looking from histogenetical point of view primary neoplastic alterations of placenta and umbilical cord can be divided in two main groups. First group consists of neoplasms of trophoblastic disease's origin: placental site trophoblastic tumor, choriocarcinoma and hydatidiform mole, according to most authors it not belonging to neoplasms. The second group consists of nontrophoblastic tumors, like: chorioangioma and teratoma. Hepatocellular adenoma and leiomyoma are also enclosed to the nontrophoblastic tumors. It hasn't been defined yet whether all nontrophoblastic changes in placenta or in umb

RATIONALE: Multiple primary neoplasms (MPNs) are rare. Most MPNs are double, and triple primary neoplasms are extremely rarer. Here, we describe a case of a 66-year-old man diagnosed with metachronous triple primary neoplasms with primary prostate cancer, lung cancer and colon cancer.
PATIENT CONCERNS: The patient complained of dysuria in January 2015, and he underwent transurethral resection of the prostate. The pathological results showed acinar adenocarcinoma of prostate with a Gleason score of 3+3. In January 2017, he complained of lower abdominal pain, then he took an enteroscopy examina

BACKGROUND: Many survivors of a first primary cancer (FPCs) are at risk of developing a second primary cancer (SPC), with effects on patient prognosis. Primary cancers have different frequencies of specific SPC development and the development of SPCs may be closely related to the FPC. The aim of this study was to explore possible correlations between SPCs and FPCs.
METHODS: Relevant literature on SPCs was retrospectively searched and screened from four databases, namely, PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and PMC. Data on the number of patients with SPC in 28 different organ sites were also coll

OBJECTIVE: This research endeavored to determine the key demographic and pathological factors tied to secondary malignant neoplasms (SMNs) in survivors of testicular cancer and to develop a predictive model.
METHOD: A total of 53,309 testicular cancer patients from the SEER national database (1975-2016) were included in our analysis. The primary outcome measured was SMNs-free survival, defined as the duration from testicular cancer diagnosis to the detection of a non-testicular malignancy. The secondary outcome was SMN-specific survival, defined as the period from testicular cancer diagnosis

BACKGROUND: Although incidence of second primary malignancies (SPMs) has been investigated in patients with cutaneous melanoma and uveal melanoma, limited studies have investigated their occurrence subsequent to conjunctival melanoma (CM). We conducted a retrospective observational study to assess incidence of SPMs in patients with primary CM and to identify associated risk factors.
METHODS: Cases of first primary CM diagnosed from 2000 to 2018 were extracted from the national cancer database Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program. Standardized incidence ratios (SIR) and excess a

Rapid advance in oncology leads to increasing survival of oncologic patients. More and more of them live long enough to reach either the natural age of menopause or, as a side effect of their oncotherapy, experience the cessation of gonadal function, leading to premature ovarian insufficiency, with disturbing vasomotor symtoms and long-term negative cardiovascular and skeletal effects. Thus, an ever increasing number of cancer survivors search endocrinologic help in the form of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The misinterpretation of the WHI (Women's Health Initiative) Study has lead to an

Myoid angioendothelioma are rare and benign vascular tumours of the spleen. Radiographic evaluation and diagnosis is often challenging and subjecting tissue samples to immuhistochemical analysis is often required to make a definitive diagnosis. Myoidangioendotheliomas can be managed with open or laparoscopic splenectomy with minimal risk of recurrent disease. Herein, we present a case of a myoid angioendothelioma in a patient with stage IV Wilms' tumour.

We report on a case of urinary bladder leiomyosarcoma in a 23-year-old woman, 22 years after therapy for bilateral retinoblastoma. The tumor presented with dysuria and macroscopic haematuria. Cystoscopy revealed a tumor localized in the trigonum covered by an ulcerated urothelium. The patient underwent a transvesical tumor resection. Eight months later, a second leiomyosarcoma developed in the vertex, at a site different from the previous one. A cystoscopic trans-urethral tumor resection was performed, followed by combined chemotherapy. One year later another recurrence occurred at the site of

OBJECTIVES: We report one case of Metacronous transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) of the prostatic urethra in a patient with history of left nephroureterectomy 22 years before for urothelial neoplasia of the upper urinary tract.
METHODS: We describe the case of a 56-year-old male patient who presents with oligosymptomatic hematuria for several months. Cystourethroscopy showed irregular hyperemic lesions in the prostatic urethra, cold biopsy of which showed urothelial atypia. Pathology report of fragments of a posterior transurethral resection (TUR) was compatible with high-grade superficial tra

Frequency of neoplastic diseases among patients cured successfully from testicular cancer is higher than in normal population. Synchronous occurrence of neoplasms in those patients is a rarity. The case of simultaneous adenocarcinoma of ascending and sigmoid colon in a man effectively treated before for testicular cancer is presented. The patient underwent nearly total colectomy and resection of the rectal polyp. Six months after operation patient did not present any features of neoplastic disease. This case is an illustration of the problem of cancerogenesis within polyps of the large bowel i

Secondary malignancies represent an increasing problem for long survivors of primary malignancies treated by chemo- and/or radiotherapy. The occurrence of secondary myelodysplasia and leukaemias after treatment for Hodgkin's disease is well established. Secondary solid tumors are mostly observed following radiation therapy. We report the case of a patient who presented 3 abdominal solid malignancies within 3 years, 29 years after abdominal radiotherapy for a testicular seminoma, namely 2 colon cancers and a peritoneal mesothelioma. Both types of cancer are independently reported in the literat
